The Lord's Prayer as a Blueprint for Fathers
On Father's Day, Tim teaches that the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) is a blueprint for how fathers should lead their homes: setting godly rules and…
Loving God with All Your Heart
Pastor Tim preaches on what it means to love God wholeheartedly, drawing on Luke 10:27 and the life of David to show that a fully committed heart is one that is tested, repentant, and unwilling to live a double life. He contrasts the rebellious heart of Israel in the wilderness and the fate of Saul with David's heart that constantly returned to God, and closes with Ezekiel 36:26's promise of a new, soft heart for those who commit fully to Christ. The service opens with two congregational songs and a spoken poem by Emma, and closes with “Blessed Assurance.”

Strife simply to walk in newness of Life buried with Christ and dead unto sin dying but living Jesus within ruling and reigning day after day guiding and keeping all of the way risen with Christ my glorious head Holiness now the pathway I tread beautiful thought from walking therein he that is dead is free from all sin living with Christ who dieth no more following Christ who goeth before not under law I'm now under grace sin is dethroned and Christ take its place amen praise God my dear friends you know it's good to see us all bright and early it's um it's also an honor to be up here um you know sometimes we might ask what's the what's the point of coming to church you know um we can listen online we can you know listen to sermons at home but when we come together it's it unites us uh when we listen to the word of God live uh instead of online it touches us because the holy spirit is in this house and here so we're going to be continuing our topic and uh for the past month you know how we heard about how God loved us um he went through through it all like the song through it all you know to show his love for us and he made the the greatest Sacrifice by sending his only son but today um we're going to be talking about what the Bible says how we are to love our God you know God showed us in many ways how he loved loved us but today we're going to learn how we are to love our God you know and like even though our God is a holy God and when he loves it's a perfect love he's always there but but our love to him is not always that perfect love it's not not always that Holy Love and today we're going to be reminded how we ought to love our God I would like us to open up to Luke chapter 10 and I'll be reading verse 27 Luke 10 verse 27 and he answered you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength strength and with all your mind and your neighbor as yourself so over here it gives us four ways to love our God four ways to love him with our heart to love him with our soul to love him with our mind and to love him with our strength and today we're going to be talking about how do do we love our god with our heart how can we love our god with our heart you know our heart is actually the most important organ in us in our bodies the way that an engine is to a car is the way that our heart is to our body it was what makes us run it's what makes us live but you know sometimes an engine can overheat sometimes the cylinders can skip a beat you know and sometimes the engines uh break down and that's the saddest state when you have a car that you cannot use because it's broken like imagine you going out and you saved up you know for for a whole year $88,000 you're excited you know you got your driver's license I'm going to go and buy myself a car and you go to the to the dealerships but they're all expensive you're like man there's no car for 8,000 so you go online like okay so many options so you get a car they ship it to you you're all excited you start it but it doesn't start you find out the engine doesn't work so to you right now that car like does it can you do anything with it or is it now just a big piece of metal taking up your uh your space you know when we are not committed to our Lord when our heart is not committed to our Lord we are like that car we are like that car that has no use you can sit in it you can look at it but the most important thing that it needs to be used for you cannot use it because it does not work it's broken and God he needs a heart that is willing to work a heart that is willing to be used a heart that is fully committed to loving him so he can use each one of us for his will you know when we give our heart to someone say um we're in a relationship uh we like somebody you know we give our heart to them we we commit to them and um there was a time where I committed myself to my wife and some of us sitting here we committed our hearts to our wives and some of you sitting here will commit your hearts to your wives or to your husbands in the future but when we commit our heart to our future wife or husband we give them the assurance that we will not love anybody else but them we give them the the uh confidence that they can trust in us to love them because we want to spend the rest of our life with them so in a relationship now when we commit ourselves to our spouse to our future spouse we have our differences but we start working them out those things that um that maybe she doesn't like you start kind of kind of um moving them away from your life and when we commit our heart to God this is the time that we have to make sure that our relationship with him uh grows stronger and stronger if our relationship is not going is not um is not stronger with God then our relationship is getting weaker and weaker you know there sometimes we don't understand how how important a commitment to our Lord is sometimes we think that by living a double life God is okay with that but imagine you committed yourself to to a certain person and they're they're with you they're around you they look at you they smile with you they laugh with you they say they committed to you but then your friends tell you that that person is doing the same thing with somebody else how would we feel how would we feel if we know that the one whom we loved is also doing this game with somebody else and sometimes we have to check ourself if we're doing that to the Lord is our heart double heart is our heart only committed to him halfway or are we committed to him all the way even the secular world knows that when a person is committed and they dancing around with somebody else that is wrong that's called cheating even the secular world knows that that is not a healthy relationship yet so many Christians live this type of Lifestyle they say I'm ready to give my life to you God they come out to the front they repent you know maybe they they repented somewhere else they accepted Jesus at home or in the car or at school or at church wherever it could be but then when it comes to get rid of their sinful Lifestyles they cannot fully commit and over here the Bible tells us love your God with all your heart with all your heart even 99% is not enough even 99.9% is not enough to love your God we have to commit our hearts fully to him to love him fully when someone's heart is shattered then we know that the trust is no longer there when someone's heart is shattered then we know that their relationship is finished you know and when we live a double life as Christians our relationship with God is nowhere it's not even halfway even if we give our heart halfway our relationship is not even there it's not even halfway it's zero because like the Bible says that you know um God would rather have you hot or cold he would rather have you hot or cold but since some of us are lukewarm what does it say he will spit you out the lukewarmness in the mouth of Our Lord is the most dangerous type of condition that we can be in he's not even trying to to somehow make you hot or he's not even waiting for you to get cold he it says that he will spit you out because that condition is a condition when a Christan not a nonbeliever but a Christian thinks he is saved yet living a double life not fully committing himself to Christ a fully committed Heart is also a tested heart we will see how in the story of David a fully committed heart is a tested heart many of us know the life of David I'm not going to read his entire story but we will read some of it where David as a young boy he was anointed as King by Samuel they were saying that the scholar says that he was maybe 10 years old up to 15 years old so he was a young boy he did not know what he was getting himself into you know I mean imagine some of you uh sitting here and some uh Prophet like came and said brother gima you're going to be the next president of the United States and they anointed you you're like okay you know you're like excited yes but do we know oops I'm not crying just got something in my throat but with that anointing comes big responsibility comes really big responsibility and David at that time he didn't know he didn't know what the responsibility was going to be when he was getting annoyed anointed but then God starts testing him he starts making David run around he starts making sure that David is relying on the one who he should rely on he's testing to see where David is going to turn to for his help we even know the story of David and Goliath when the when the Goliath came out and all the army of Israel they were shaking it's like some of these soldiers they were they were raised from a childhood to be a committed Soldier some of them were like the Navy Seals of our time some of them were like the the spit snaz of our time but they were all afraid of this giant and you know and I would probably be afraid to you know because when you see this big guy that from a childhood he was training all his life and then he comes out and you got to fight him it's like like in the MMA ring say you come out you're 510 and then the guy he's 10 ft tall I mean what are the chances there I mean you're punching his knee that's how high you're getting you know I mean there's absolutely no chance to win no chance but we see that David's fearlessness at this young age as a boy at this young age as a boy it came from where it didn't come from his strength it didn't come from his knowhow it didn't come from his experience we know that it came from the Lord why because David's heart was committed to loving his God and we read in uh 1 Samuel 17:26 for who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of God who is this uncircumcised Philistine the boldness the boldness who is this guy who is mocking the army of God and all of you here soldiers train your entire life are all hiding but but David goes because he knows that somebody somebody is with him somebody is with him that's not with with any of these guys who who are afraid and that was his God like and then you know after David becomes king like we read where you know he gets married you know he's happy then he has a baby boy and this baby boy passes away then then like we read where David is already on his throne he's already rooted he's already powerful everybody around him is afraid he's the strong man of the country he's the United States of the world nobody wants to fight with him and everybody that does loses he's already on his high horse but then we see that God is constantly testing his heart and he raises up and God raises up his son Absalom to go against David his father well I'm not going to say God raises him um but God just allows David's son Absalom to try and overtake David's Throne Absalom was trying to do a coupe a coupe on the one who raised him his father and then we know that the story how that ends where where Absalom gets his army David gets his army and David tells his Commander listen like you go you beat them but bring my son alive the heart the heart of David So Soft So Soft that some of of us would would say kill him kill everybody destroy them but David is given another chance for his son another chance to come and repent and that's what God does to each of us when we are lost in this world he's constantly knocking and giving that chance my dear friend if you are walking a life not with God if your heart is not committed to him God is still knocking he's giv that chance for you to come to him and we see over here David is given that chance again to his son knowing that his son wants to destroy him kill him take his throne but David says bring him alive and when when he finds out that his son dies he starts crying the heart that is loving the heart that is loving it never rejoices it never rejoices when it sees pain you know and like in Acts 1322 we read here and when he had removed him he raised up from David as king to whom also he gave testimony and said I have found David the son of Jesse a man after my own heart who will do all my will and when he had removed him that's when Saul had that's when God had removed Saul because Saul's heart was no longer with God we see what happens when our heart is no longer with God God will remove us he will spit us out like that lukewarm water if our heart is not fully committed to our Lord our ending will be like Saul but we see over here he raised up David because David's heart was after the Lord David's heart was constantly seeking the presence of God and over here says who will do my will in other words who will obey me who will obey me a lot of the times we we might live a life where we constantly hear about God but when it comes time to obey we can't fulfill that because the desires of this world are just stronger than our love for him strong love doesn't happen overnight it's not like we repent and that said our love is so strong that nobody can shake it away a strong heart it is a tested heart it's a heart that is constantly tested throughout our lifetime and sometimes you will go through something hard in your life just know that God is testing you who are you going to turn to are you going to turn to your mother your father your brother your sister your friend your your online um answers who are you going to turn to or are you going to turn to God God will test each one of us where our heart is if our heart is fully committed to him or not you know it the Bible also talks about a rebellious heart in Hebrews 3:8 it says do not Harden your hearts as in the Rebellion on the day of testing in the wilderness over here again we see that the testing the testing God tests our hearts over here this was talk about Israel when they were in the desert and God was testing them but they were not passing his tests so they kept on walking circles for 40 years walking circles and God kept on testing them he kept on showing up to them but these people had a rebellious heart they were not willing to leave their their previous lifestyles to fully commit their hearts to God a rebellious heart cannot be fully committed to him a rebellious heart is a heart that cannot commit to God's holiness a rebellious heart is a heart that doesn't want to follow the truths that are written in the Bible so what do they do they make excuses for their sins they take the Bible they turn to it there was a pastor that I recently listened just like a short thing about and he was speaking to to other pastors how how the churches should accept this like LGBT stuff this gay stuff that it's okay to be like in the churches and he's saying and he's bringing up an example way out of context about Lazarus when he died and like and when he was wrapped up in linen or whatever and he's saying and over here God is showing to all the LGBT community like he says to Lazarus Lazarus come out and he's using this example to say to these people people that are living in their sins that you can come out and you will still be saved because Lazarus from the dead he came out to life these people that have a rebellious heart find every excuse to live their life like this but a heart that is fully committed to Christ that is that wants to live with God it's a heart that's looking to build the relationship with him a heart that is 100% committed to God like is the heart that sees okay I have this in my life it's not pleasing to the lord it's not holy it's not righteous and so we start you know getting rid of those things that we know God does not like because we need to build that relationship with him we committed our life to him we said Lord I commit to you 100% And like David David wasn't perfect he had his sins but every time he would repent from them David he had his issues he would do things that weren't uh pleasing to the Lord but he knew that he knew that those things things were not right and he would say Lord forgive me and he would run to him run to him on his knees and rekindle that relationship with God that's why God said David is after my heart David was was all around God's heart he loved God so much and that's the love that God wants from me and you a fully committed heart and in the conclusion I'd like to read Ezekiel 36:26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you I will remove from you Your Heart of Stone and give you a heart of Flesh my dear friends if our heart is not fully committed to our Lord know that he does not get along with lukewarm water he will spit us out because lukewarmness is sickening to him it's better for you to be cold or hot but if our if our relationship with with God is a double life relationship where we only commit part of oursel to him over here it says that God will spit us out but if we are ready to fully commit ourselves to God he will say he will remove that Heart of Stone and give us a heart of Flesh another uh translation like where it says the the heart of Flesh it's it's a soft heart a heart that is soft a heart that can be worked on a heart that can that can commit to to God that's the heart that God is looking for and if we know that there's some things in our life that we need to change if we know that there's some things in our life that are hindering our relationship with our Lord be it you know slander or gossip or hate or things that we shouldn't be watching or friends that we shouldn't be hanging out with be it anything that is Unholy we can run to God and say Lord forgive us and give us a heart of Flesh and that is when a person is after the heart of God and fully committed to him in Jesus name let's pray am e before we sing Our Song I'm going to read from Mark 12:42 to 44 then a poor Widow came and put into very small copper coins worth less than a penny Jesus called his followers to him and said this poor Widow put in only two small coins but the truth is she gave more than all those rich people they have plenty and they gave only what they did not need the woman is very poor but she gave all that she had it was the money she needed to live on and as we see here God doesn't look as much as the amount that we give but where our heart stands at the end of the day if our heart is willing to give um then that is a blessing for us but if our heart has something attached to what we're trying to give the Lord it is best not to even give it and so if the Lord has put on your heart to give today to our ministry to help us uh reach uh the Lost um then may he bless you and let and we'll be singing our last song today uh Blessed assurance [Music] Blessed assurance Jesus is M oh what a for taste the glory Divine Hair of [Music] Salvation purchase of
