God’s Design: Creation vs. Secular Naturalism

and I'd like to start off with Lamentations 3 verse 22-23 because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail they are new every morning great is your faithfulness you know we fall asleep every single night expecting to awake and also with no guarantee and you set your alarm in anticipation that you're going to wake up the next day and you know some people they didn't have that today where they were able to wake up but praise God we have another day another morning that we're able to praise him you know and fulfill his works and the thing is that technically we're invincible and so we have done what God has planned for us to do on this Earth um so you know if somehow yesterday we messed up or or we didn't take advantage of the full day well today is a new morning and we can fix that and and try to be better as Christians and to be more like Jesus Christ and we have a new morning so with that being said I'd like to stand up and pray for this service Lord God we thank you for all that you given us today Lord and for this new morning that you've given us God help us Lord to praise you God and to learn from this service today God fill this place sorrow where even death is swallow where God himself will make his home praise God well good morning everybody uh my name is Jim Perkins and I am here to talk a little bit today about creation there we go and where are we I need to sorry I'm going to fast forward here for just a moment uh my presentation getting a bit long- winded uh oh I think I froze it oh there and I just want to fast forward to a point where I want to start today here just this last slide I yep there we go okay so uh if I could like to open with a little prayer just for guidance here so everybody stand real quick Heavenly Father we just thank you Lord for this time to come together and and and read and get into your word Lord and I just we ask this morning Lord for your guidance to make sure that only your will is spoken here today Lord in Jesus name we pray amen okay well what I usually what I like to talk about is uh just a quick ins short of who I am um I grew up in a family that kind of attended church so I if if you asked me when I was in grade school in junior high I'd tell you I believed in God but today I don't know if I could tell you I was a Christian because I did not work on my relationship with God then I had no idea what that even meant uh so then when I got into high school and college the secular education system taught God right out of me and it took me about 10 12 years to actually come back to God and that's a whole whole another long story but I I found my way back God by the grace of God Alone he brought me back and so now I've spent this time in the the secular world and I I've just seen the story I've seen what it's secular education is doing pulling pulling our youth away from churches and pulling our youth away from God so I like to talk a little bit about creation God's model versus the human con constructed model of secular naturalism and so today I'm just going to start I guess just real quick show a hands who here has either had education had science class in high school or college level either has had it or is is in it right now um has has had uh mainly Evolution you guys know a lot about Evol know much about Evolution um you kind of can't get through school without it what about Big Bang have you guys talked you guys haven't seen that much in school um Evolution you can't get away from it is you turn on your TV it is all over the news I mean our local news talks about age of the Earth you know weather patterns that happened 100,000 years ago um and it's you just can't get away from it you turn on National Geographic and this animal begat this animal begat this animal and it just you can't get away from it but big bang is something that it seems to me is not talked about as much and the reality is the Big Bang is the entire Foundation that the skyscraper of secular naturalism is built on and it is just full of holes it just does not hold up it does not work and so today just real quick i' like to go through a little bit you know what is what is God's model for the very beginning of creation and then how does that compare to what the human constructed model is and then a little bit of what what scripture has to say about that so we'll start off I already kind of talked about what the presentation's about so we'll start at the beginning so one the thing that happens I talk to a lot of you know a lot of Youth that are of secular mind that that accept naturalism because they've been through high school and college level science one of the things they tell me is they read the Bible they they look at the Bible and right from the beginning they say Jim you know you look at Genesis and it just looks like it's a story of some magical Sky wizard making you know just playing you know it's almost like I'm reading about a a character out of Dungeons and Dragons or something right they think they're reading some magical Sky wizard stuff so going to look real quick at very first couple of verses of of uh Genesis in the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth the Earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and God said let there be light and there was light and God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness and God called light day and the Darkness he called night and the evening and the morning were the first day one thing I'd like to just point out here that I'm not really going to dive into here today but God starts out with two of the most important things for life sustainment right what are those two things very first thing what is the Earth right now at this point of creation it's just a big mass of water right land may exist underneath it because he's going to bring land up up eventually but it's a big mass of water what is the most life sustaining element on this planet or compound anyway is water and I I think he said light light's that next thing very next thing he says is let there be light and this is God's light we're talking about right now he hasn't created any stars yet but he starts out with water and light and I will tell you right now that the Big Bang model water is not possible to exist on this planet it it the way the model works there cannot possibly be water on this planet right now so again I won't go into that too much but I like where God starts because water can't exist and also light the way that they have Stars start cannot possibly work either but so anyway yes I get told that this sounds like magic so I got to thinking what if I took the secular model and tried to put it into this kind of structure because you know the Bible to us the way the Bible speaks to us translated into our language it almost almost a little bit poetic right but it has a structure to it it it speaks to us a certain way so I thought what if I try to put the beginning of the secular model into the same kind of structure and if we do that it looks something like this in the beginning there was nothing the nothing then ripped itself into positive and negative particles matter and antimatter or maybe mass and gravity there is nor ever will be any any way to know for sure when the nothing ripped itself into positive and negative Gases such as hydrogen helium possibly lithium were the first to form in a big bang despite the physics of gas pressure the gravity exerted by the gas molecules pulled them together so tightly into a dense ball that nuclear fusion started giving way to the first stars all the mass gravity and even time itself was created in a big bang the universe had effectively created itself before it or anything else ever existed so then I ask what sounds like magic right so starting here God starts out with in the beginning God right God is God was God will be in the beginning there was God secular model has to start out with in the beginning there was nothing so let's talk a little bit about nothing right so just take a moment not a very long one but take a moment and let's think about what is nothing can you think about it in your brains I'll tell you I stayed up a couple nights trying to figure out what this even is because I you know it is is nothing even possible can so think about it can you define it I I worked for a long time my definition is a lack of something a lack of anything but even then I am comparing it to something right and if you can compare to something then you are you have something you're comparing so can we Define nothing can we even imagine it can you can you comprehend nothing in your brain can we really understand what nothing is is nothing even possible are these even valid questions or are they just oxymorons because they're they're not you can't what is nothing the minute you say the word is you're talking about something so does this question actually matter if you if in this world where God exists it doesn't matter because in the beginning God but in a secular naturalistic world you have to understand nothing is incredibly important so so because natural laws of physics tell us that in the beginning there had to be nothing and nothing had to but nothing had to spontaneously combust into something but that can't happen in the natural laws of physics but it had to because also with natural laws of physics the word Eternal doesn't make sense there's no such thing right right so but you have to either start with nothing or you have to have eternal we have God God is eternal the secular model has nothing so let's take a quick look at what the Big Bang model is where we get where it comes from so I know there's words up here don't try to read them don't worry about that the main thing is over on the left side of that you have empty space is nothing then we have this flash where the big bang occurs and so if as you read to the right that is time so um at first you have this flash then you move a little bit forward in time you have this plasma soup then you move a little forward in time Stars start to form then more in time and galaxies start to form and now today we look out into the universe and we believe that the universe is still expanding we think there are still Stars forming galaxies forming and so we think think that the the universe is still expanding so to try to understand where this whole idea of the Big Bang comes from uh for short and for time restraints today I've taken a lot out but I usually I like to quote some of these more well-respected atheists um and Paul Sutter is a columnist for lot for several atheist uh articles and what he says is if you notice that every day the universe is getting bigger you can make a tremendous leap of logic to come to the conclusion that long ago the universe was smaller maybe I guess what he's saying here is if we look out into the Stars today and we see we think the universe is getting bigger then if we were to wind the clock backwards theoretically the universe should get smaller and smaller and smaller and you keep winding time back and smaller and smaller and smaller it's gone right and now we have our nothing that's the idea of the Big Bang that's the entire basis for why we come up with a big bang is we think that if you wind the clock back the universe is got to get smaller so we got to come up with an idea on how that could possibly happen and what would happen so that is where the big bang idea comes from so here's a bit bigger picture of it uh so off on the left we have nothing we just have empty space then somehow some way in the middle of nothingness a little singularity forms forms a little size of a pin head and it contains everything that right now is in this universe in that little tiny pin head in about 10 to the 36 seconds or 30 second 32 seconds it swells the size of Peach and explodes it goes bang and it spills a plasma soup basically full of subatomic Quantum siiz particles everywhere right and so and then a little bit further you see those little particles they start forming up into atoms atoms start forming gases gases form stars stars form galaxies you know and th so on so forth want to talk a little bit about the the 10 the Nega 32 seconds so we're talking about something in the secular mind that happened 13 almost 14 billion years ago but they think they understand that the Universe started as a pin head size and they think that they know the time it took to swell to a size of a peach and go bang to that detail just to put it in perspective 10 32 seconds if 1 second looks like 1.0 10 32 seconds is 0 point that many zeros one right 32 zeros and one how much of a second is that if one second stretches from here to to say East Coast then we're probably talking about this much length it's it's tiny it's nothing so it's that much of a second and in that much of a second depending on who you look to who you study they will put between seven and 11 different epochs or stages of of the life of the universe into that little tiny time frame so there is no mathematical basis for this but I'm not even sure where it comes from but they believe this is the amount of time it took so the the peachy it basically says this so this is now you had nothing if we can have nothing right I let's just assume that we can have nothing we have a big whole lot of nothingness just a big empty nothingness and somehow in the middle of that nothingness our entire universe or those little uh pin head anomaly forms SW size of a peach so in the beginning our entire universe was a little ball of fire about the size of a peach burning at about a trillion Kelvin again according to the secular model and to put that in perspective a trillion Kelvin well yeah a trillion Kelvin is almost 2 trillion degrees fenhe 2 trillion degrees Fahrenheit our sun burns a little less than 6,000 degrees Fahrenheit so two trillion is a pretty big number the reality is though most physicists say it's too low because you have to think about if R1 star Burns at 6,000 de fah and the number of stars out there is somewhere in the midst of 100 billion times 100 billion and now with the new James web telescope data we think it might be more than twice that if you have that much stuff and the universe is still growing and you have that much stuff crammed into a little Peach it would be even way hotter than two trillion degrees or two trillion Kelvin so but anyway yes so this is what I was just saying at some point point before the existence of time so time was created in a big bang according to this model so there was no time because there was nothing so at some point before the existence of time a tiny Singularity about the size of a needle point appeared somewhere in the middle of nothing in just 10 3 32 seconds The Singularity swelled to the size of a peach the peach then exploded or went bang flooding the nothing with the entire universe of plasma basically Quantum or subatomic Siz material that would eventually evolve into the universe we know today so everything all the stars all the planets all the anything you can think of out there in the universe was all crammed into this Peach all the material all the mass that we needed for it so now let's take a step forward let's assume the peach was possible I mean right now nothing is imp is not possible Right a singularity forming out of nothing so something coming from nothing is not possible and now if we assume though that there is a a peach out there how did it come from nothing and they do try to explain this terrible job but we're going to look at a couple of ideas so I'm going to go back to Paul Suter here where he says that earlier than 10 to the 32 seconds we simply don't understand the nature of the universe at small enough scales we don't even know if the word before even makes sense I leave this one in this presentation today because it it is a very rare admittance this is a atheist way of saying we know there has to be something Eternal we know that there has to be something before our big bang but we can't admit to that because we can't admit admit anything being Eternal right so because the reality is all disciplines of science whether you talk about the physical ones like biology and chemistry or the intellectual ones like psychology ology sociology all of them agree that everything that you could imagine as a thing had to have has to have a beginning and an end everything and if that's true then at some point everything that is here had a beginning so there has to be a point where there was nothing but that can't be because nothing can't produce something so this is the the circle that we get into is nothing can't become something but there's nothing Eternal so something had to come from nothing but nothing can't produce something you just get in this circular argument and it gets that way through every stage of the Big Bang it gets that way through every stage of evolution and age of the Earth but so if we continue on so you start to wonder why are people so easily fooled some of these people that believe in and accept this and they believe it I believed it for a long time in my life you they're very in ually intelligent people right but God kind of explains it for us Proverbs 35-6 trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight this path of secularism is very very windy it's because we don't have god making it straight so where might it have come from the peach enter Steph Hawking everybody know the name stepen Hawking you guys heard of stevenh Hawking I like to call him the secular savior uh he steps up and says well it's how do you get something from nothing well it's very simple just look at math everything is nothing nothing is everything that make sense to anybody let's see if we can explain this it it starts to have some Merit and this is why this stuff can can work in school why schools can teach kids this and they accept it I'm going to show you the first part why it looks like it starts making sense and then I'm going to explain why it doesn't so the answer is found in math think of a number line right and a number line and it's funny I was I was talking to a bunch of junior high schoolers and I said think of a number line I got this nobody wanted to talk about number lines at junior high level but think of a number line in the center you have zero let zero represent nothing from that zero you can reach in you can pull out a one and pull out a one but if you do that you're left with a negative one right from zero you could pull out a 100 as long as you're left with a negative 100 so if that 100 is something and that negative 100 is a negative something it's still nothing because you can put it right back together and have nothing so now we kind of make a little bit of sense you're can have nothing and then suddenly if you pull out a something as long as you pull out the opposite something at the same time you still have nothing and this was stepen Hawking's brilliant idea so for Hawking this was mass and gravity so his theory was that all of the mass in the universe the stuff that makes up the planets the Stars the asteroids all the Rocks floating around all of the mass is the positive something and gravity is the negative something and so his idea was that the mass and gravity is the positive and negative and some point you could put them back together and we' back be back to nothing he's been a bit discredited on that because then we enter in Richard Dawkins do we know who Richard Dawkins is any but he's he is the current kind of head of the The Atheist he's the new atheist movement leader so I've watched a lot of interviews with him but he he says that you know now we're studying this matter antimatter stuff you know the the mass and gravity he's not sold on the but matter antimatter might have the answers this is what he says but then he'll go on and say you know we we think we understand matter and antimatter we can his words prove it mathematically he's talked about containing it but then if you keep listening to him by containing it he's still talking more mathematically we can't contain antimatter right do you understand the purp the the matter and antimatter what it is the idea is you have matter you have mass and there's this antimatter floating around and when they touch they become nothing right when they come into contact so an antimatter comes into contact with matter it just cancels out and you have nothing right so he says so that may lead us to how the big bang produced something from nothing and you continue on with him and he'll eventually get to the part where he says yeah but we actually absolutely know that there is hardly any antimatter in the universe and there's a whole bunch of matter so you don't have an equal number you have a 100 over here and a one over here so he says but but we think it'll lead us in the right direction so by the way when you hear these atheists say but we think it'll lead us in the right direction what are they doing what are they practicing faith it is all about faith for them don't tell them that because smoke will come out their ears and laser beams will come out their eyes but they practice Faith so so let's review the logic here the this is one of my favorite quotes it's an analogy given by Stephen or Yeah by Steph Hawking trying to explain to the lay person his his ideas he says imagine a man wants to build a hill on a flat piece of land the hill represent the universe thus the flat piece of land must represent the nothing right so the hill will represent the universe to make this hill he digs a hole in the ground and uses that soil to build his Hill but of course he's not just making a hill he's also making a hole in effect a negative version of the Hill the stuff that was in the hole has now become the hill so that it perfectly balances out right you have your positive you have your negative this is the principle behind what happened right at the beginning of the universe when the Big Bang produced a vast amount of positive energy it simultaneously produced the the same amount of negative energy in this way the positive and negative add up to zero always it is another law of nature so what does that mean it means that if the universe adds up to nothing then you don't need a God to create it the universe is the ultimate free lunch he said this on a Discovery Channel program um so my immediate question was does anybody see to me I read this and for me he just proved a need for God does anybody so everybody kind of understands what he's saying that the land is nothing right you build your Hill you have your your positive something your negative something use your hole and you could put that hill right back into that hole and you go right back to nothing but I just I I wonder about a guy like Stephen Hawking you know a guy that early in life grew up in Christian family had a bunch of bad breaks physically right medically began to distrust God began to hate God was he even an atheist I think he believed in God I think he didn't want to believe in God I think he knew the answer but and I think this analogy tells us that because I have a question here I understand the positive and the negative but this picture there's your flat piece of land yeah that's a handy Beach and there's a shovel there but okay so you have your flat piece of land how long and secularists put in billions of years right tens of billions of years to their story to try to make it work how long do we have to sit here and look at this if we were here if we were at that beach looking at that beach how long until that shovel builds that hill in that hole what's that it's not going to happen right a person he said Stephen Hawking himself said imagine a man wants to build a hole or build a hill so in the beginning of the universe where was the guy that separated the the positive and the negative God had to do that right yeah we know that we know who that guy was we know who did it but again unless you want to see the smoke and the laser beams don't tell that to a to a naturalist Okay so again why would such a smart person because stepen Hawking intellectually book smart very intelligent person right why would he hold such absurd views well again Proverbs tells us the way of a fool is right in his own eyes but a wise man listens to advice Stephen Hawking so wrapped up in his own I have to prove this I mean how hard did he try if he followed him to prove black holes and we we think we see black holes out there and I have no problem accepting there's black holes out there but he had to find black holes because if he didn't he didn't have enough gravity in the universe to say that there was enough negative and he just fought and fought and fought to get there um and he just railed against God for for so long because he wanted to trust his own advice he was trusting in himself he was not looking to God for his advice for his Direction james5 tells us if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask God who gives generously to all without reproach and it will be given him and I don't think Stephen Hawking ever asked God for advice on this either and turns out God specifically warned us about it or about this whole secular naturalism thing and how it's spreading right now Deuteronomy 4:19 and be aware lest you raise your eyes to heaven and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars all the host of Heaven you be drawn away and and bow down to them and serve them things that the Lord your God has allotted All Peoples under the whole Heaven that's what secular naturalism is is they are worshiping the creation not the Creator they're worshiping what they they look at the use their telescopes and look out into the stars and they're worshiping what they see out in the heavens they're worshiping everything that's going on on Earth and they're not worshiping the Creator here so creationist view of creation of how the universe started very simple Psalms 19:1 the heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims his handiwork God created it it's that complicated for us Genesis 2 1-2 thus the heavens and the Earth were finished and all the host of them and on the seventh day God God finished finished his work that he had done and he rested on the seventh day from all of his work that he had done anybody know what the second law or third yeah second law of Thermodynamics is entropy anybody understand what entropy is so entropy is the idea that the organization of molecules of adom stuff is losing organization so our all of the things in our universe are becoming less organized they're becoming more chaos and the this law of entropy says that everything is moving in a direction of more entropy so more chaos more everything's falling apart basically and this is something that secular physicists accept with all their heart but then in the same sentence they'll tell you the universe is still expanding which means things are becoming more organized but God's word actually I see entropy I mean I see a possibility of entropy there because God created and he was finished and maybe had Adam and Eve not tasted the Apple maybe we wouldn't have entropy but today we have death in the world we have entropy entropy is easy to see and entropy fits with the Bible physics fit with the Bible physics don't fit with the secular model spike basus is a guy that I really like I don't know if anybody of you ever seen Spike basus speak um he was actually who got me realizing it was okay to question the secular model but he says this he says if you believe the entire universe originated in this event for which there is no reason just random chance so the Big Bang there's no reason it's just all random chance then what right do you have to expect the universe to operate strictly according to consistent laws of physics afterward are you being consistent or inconsistent and the thing is is secularists tend to accuse us of being inconsistent all the time but they're telling us we have to accept that all the laws are broken to create the universe and all the laws are still being broken out the edge of the universe but we need to accept their laws of physics here so one last theory that they have on trying to say where they Universe could begin real quick couple warnings from I think that God warns us about this Colossians 28 see to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit according to human tradition according to the elemental spirits of the world and not according to Christ keep focused on Christ right Matthew 7:13-14 enter by the narrow gate for the gate is wide that the the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction and those who enter by it are many for the gate is narrow and the and the way is hard that leads to life and those who enter by it are few secularism is spreading but don't go do it just because the cool kids are doing it stay on your path even when it gets hard and one more little quick warning from 2 Timothy 4 3-4 for the time is coming this one really represents what we're seeing today the time is coming when people will not endure sound sound teaching but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths how true is that we listen to the people that we only want to listen to we don't necessarily listen to everything like we should so okay anybody ever heard of the Multiverse right and where did you hear about it Spider-Man the Marvel Universe right that's where it belongs but this is an actual thing this is a thing that theoretical theoretical physicists are trying to prove as we speak so what is the multi ierse the idea is that there's an infinite number of universes so many in fact that there is a universe for every this is the way it was described to me by a a secular physicist there is so many universes out there that there is a universe for every possible outcome of every possible event throughout every moment of time and across every bit of geography in the universe can anybody fathom what I just said so somewhere so there are an infinite number of universes are exactly like what we have right now except in one of them the lights just went out another one they just now did now another one now they just went out another Universe everything's exactly the same but the bench broke right and for every second that could happen so how many universes poping new existence and time it takes me to snap my fingers because somewhere there's a universe exactly like this but in the rings of Saturn one Universe rocks just passed by each other Another Universe they just bounced off each other right and now you got to talk about all the universes created by how what that Rock's path goes how do you dive down that hole I got told well you're exaggerating well no I'm following your logic to its logical conclusion right so this Multiverse idea is they're very smart people trying to prove this while we speak right so this is something edited out so makes the one in 10 to 123rd odds of the universe evolving to what we have today possible so this is a a slide that I edited out but some people have said if if a big bang happened the odds that we would have what we have today is one in 10 to the 123rd power you realize that's a 10 with 123 zeros right so pretty much statistically impossible um I put that in there because so spike basara said he and his colleagues one day tried to decide he was a he was a rocket scientist um was atheist became Christian uh he said he and his colleagues one day tried to figure out an analogy for one in 10 to the 123rd power and they decided basically take a Nerf gun go out in your backyard at night aim that Nerf gun at a star any random star and pull the trigger and that's the odds that Dart will hit that star so that's the odds that we have that the Universe could evolv in what we have today uh what this also does for him is it kicks the can down the road we no longer have to worry about what was before the peach because first we got to map oursel back to the original Universe before we can worry about where that Universe came from so we no longer have to worry about something from nothing anymore that's why they like this Theory but there is no reasonable basis for it except trying to make their argument work so basically follow the logic back to its logical conclusion when you talk to a secular atheist um but one I I'm pretty much done here searching for this Multiverse what are they really searching for they're searching for something Eternal right they're searching for something that answers the question of how do we have eternal without having and not have nothing but not violate our law law of physics what are they looking for my opinion they're looking for heaven right they're looking for God that is the Eternal element they're missing they just don't want to admit to it you are the Lord you alone have made heaven and Heaven of Heavens the heaven of Heavens with all their host the Earth and all this that is in it the Seas and all that is in them and you preserve all of them and the host of Heaven worships you yeah
