Facing Trials with Patience and Wisdom

e e good morning church uh it is time to start the service and I would like to uh start off in this service by reading a passage in Matthew 24: 43-44 and it says here but know this that if the Master of the House had known in what part of the night the thief was coming he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into therefore you also must be ready for the son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect and in these verses we see that Jesus is saying in parable and we could see how important the importance of this verse um and how important it is for us to be always ready when Jesus Christ comes and it's pretty scary you know if we're not ready for that right and we always have to inspect our lives daily on a daily basis uh purifying our souls you know our minds going through sanctification and just being always ready until Christ will come for us and so the real question is that you guys might have to reflect on this morning is are you ready for the son of man to come and with that I would like to pray let's pray Lord God I thank you for this day you have given us Lord God for this service Lord God I ask you lead this service by the Holy Spirit and I ask you bless the preacher Lord God bless the singers Lord and let this service be all for your praise and glory Lord we thank you for everything you have given us in our lives all glory to you God in Jesus name I pray amen good morning church today we'll be singing a song by the name of oh Victory in [Music] Jesus I heard an old old Story how a savior came from Glory how he gave his life on Calvary to save a rich like me I heard about his groaning of his precious Bloods atoning then I repented of my sins and won the victory oh victory in Jesus my Savior forever he sought me and B me with his redeeming blood he L me air I knew him and all my love is to him he plun me to Victory beath the cleansing FL I heard about this heing of this C raling how he made the L to walk again and cause the blind to see and then I CED dear Jesus come and heal my broken spirit and somehow Jesus came and brought to me the victory oh Victory in Jesus my Savior forever he sought me and B me with his redeeming blood he love me I knew him and all my love is to him he punched me to Victory benath the cleansing flood I heard about a Manion he has built for me in glory and I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea about the angel sing and the Redemption story and some sweet day I'll sing up there the song of Victory oh Victory in Jesus my Savior forever he sought me and bought me like you praise God praise the Lord brothers and sisters I'm back and I'm going to be reading another Bible verse continuing actually in Matthew 24 from 36-37 so we can keep on reflecting on uh what I was talking about this morning and uh and it says here but concerning that day and hour Noah knows not even the angels of Heaven nor the son but the father only for as were the days of Noah so will be the coming of the son of man praise God and I want to announce our program for this morning uh we will have brother Michael sing a song for us and then right after that we will have uh brother Tim continu continuing his series God bless I have to put my phone on airplane mode I don't want anybody calling me happened once a song I want to sing is a very very old song um it's all that was written by Bach Sebastian Bach maybe you remember his classical music but it's a really uh a dear song to me it talks about you know Jesus and His glory had to take the Visage and all scorned with a head crowned with thorns [Music] oh sacred head now wed with grief and shamed way down now scornful [Music] arounded with thorns thy only cry how pale thou art with anguish with source of abuse and Scorn how does that V languish which one was bright as more what thou my Lord has offered was all for siners G oh mine was the transgression but th the deadly Lord here I fall my saor is I deserve that place look on me with thy favor vou save to me thou great [Music] what language shall I borrow to thank thy dear rest friend for this thy dying [Applause] srow thy pity Without End oh make me thine forever and should I fainting be Lord let be never ever out Live My Love To [Music] Thee praise God Michael's going to say thank you you know Mike he's uh one of my very good friends and every time he sings I feel like I'm going to start getting emotional but uh you know that's just the Holy Spirit uh praise God my dear friends thank you everybody for coming today and we'll be continuing our uh book of James Epistle of James and it teaches us about trials and I would like for us to to open up for those who who have the Bible that we passed out is going to be page 1,746 page 1,746 and over here we're going to be reading verses 2 and 8 just to uh refresh our memories and it says over here my brethren count it all joy when you fall into different types of tribulations or trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience but let patience have its perfect work that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing if any one of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him but let him ask in faith with no doubting for He Who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind for let not man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord he is a double-minded man unstable in all his ways Amen to that and uh over here my dear friends is where Pastor James is teaching how to go through trials what we learned a couple weeks ago is that he was a pastor of Jews and Gentiles and they constantly had I would say um disagreements and I know when churches have disagreements it's it's like a trial there's you know sometimes it gets heated and over here when James is teaching us about trials is because he himself went through them and he knows how to go through them and over here I made a little um next slide please oops next slide over here I made a little chart I mean it's not the prettiest but but we have key points in passages 2-8 we have the words counted all joy we have the words trials patience perfect and complete wisdom and doubting those are the key words that we see in these passages trials produces what patience patience produces Perfection but see over here to to go through trials we need something we can't do this on our own so when we're going through trial we need to ask for wisdom wisdom for what for trials but when a person doubts back to the same slide but when a person doubts he needs to ask for wisdom not try to do things on his own so my dear friends when you are going through a trial in your life and you don't know what decision to make you're double-minded instead of making that decision yourself as God lord what should I do what should I do in this situation and then God gives you wisdom to go through that trial to produce the fruits of patience and see and it says count it all joy you know there there's different trials there's the the simple ones where um I lost my my job and then there's those where you lose somebody you loved but all these trials have the same steps that we need to seek be it you lost your job be it you be it you lost your home be it you lost somebody you loved James gives us steps what to do and then once we endure the trial that we are going through once we are able to overcome that trial that we are going through we we will understand that It produced in us something that we didn't have before and we can counted as Joy you know personally in my life I've been through trials just like many of you here and during the trial it's you're like you don't understand what's happening you're you're either anxious or worried but once that trial has ended and you see that you fully relied on God you're like wow Lord you received that joy that Joy like God you help me you gave me that Joy you feel like you got something out of it that it taught you something and over here each trial that we face it's not just for no reason it produces something in us that we didn't have before and the one thing that trials teaches us are patience you know we don't choose our trials we don't pick Lord okay test me here I know I'm going to pass he actually tests you in the parts where he knows that on your own you won't pass those are the spots he tests you in and so he he's looking okay is Dimitri gonna rely on his mother on his friends on the internet how to overcome this or that or is he going to turn his eyes on me trials produce patience and patience is actually one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit see when you sew a seed the next day you still don't see it right it's not like the seed the next day produced a tree an apple tree with a lot fruits on it patience is is that Seed where you plant it but through storms through heat through rains through cold that seed that seed it keeps on growing more and more next slide Robert not about patience please and so and so what we see here is that in Galatians but the fruit of the spirit we see is love joy peace and patience another word for patience is longsuffering some Bibles have it saying longsuffering some PE some Bibles have it patience my Bible has it as longsuffering why because in Trials we are patiently suffering in Trials we are patiently suffering when we have our Hope On Christ we're not giving up we are patient a lot of people are not patient they make decisions rash rash decisions decisions that lead to to to horrible consequences but but like when we look at the life of Jesus when he was being beaten he wasn't unpatient or giving up but he was patiently enduring the trial with every whip patiently enduring all the way to to him being hung on the cross he was patiently enduring his trial and over here James teaches us when you're going through a trial it's longsuffering be patient do not give up God knows God knows what you're going through he's the one who's watching how are you going to handle your trial that's why it teaches us that ask God for wisdom and over here we see that trials they're not meant to destroy us they're meant to to make us like that beautiful tree that produces fruit for the kingdom of God because our trials they have they can have impact not just in our lives but in the lives of peoples around us there was this one a book that I was listening to of a pastor from China and he was in prison for over 30 years daily daily they would torture him he felt like Lord I can't do this anymore I mean the book is is long but I'm just going to shorten it but when he was freed from prison the the guards were like listen he's not dying we're we're doing everything to to pretty much torture him to death he's not dying get this guy out of here after 30 years then he finds out that churches in China were growing because of him and he didn't even know he didn't know because everybody knew that this man sitting in prison being tortured for the word of God why why is he doing this who is this God why does he love him so much that he's enduring the pain and the suffering and so people started asking themselves who is this God who he's who this pastor is suffering for and slowly and slowly a church here Church there church there and they all started praying for him in unity God didn't let him die because he needed him to show who he's suffering for so people around around him can come and accept God so trials are not just to make us perfect and complete like James says but it even has impact those around us how are we enduring our trials and over here wisdom wisdom is not just Lord give me wisdom and then you don't know for what like what do you need wisdom for um I just I just want to be wise like okay but for what like give me a reason I just want to be wise no no no that's not how God works he needs a reason why you need wisdom because this wisdom that God gives is wisdom from above in Isaiah 11: 2 you guys don't need to open it there but I'm just going to read it Isaiah 11:2 it says the spirit of the Lord will rest upon him the spirit of wisdom and of understanding the spirit of counsel and of Might the spirit of wisdom from the the Lord for what for counsel and might you know this this wisdom that comes from God is not just just any wisdom God's wisdom it sees the future God knows what you need to do in your trial to win and so when he gives you the wisdom he gives you the right I'll say guidance or the right steps to take the right decisions to make so when you make those decisions in your life you're like Lord wow how everything turned out this wisdom you cannot find in Google this wisdom you cannot find from psychologists or from anybody else because this wisdom only comes from the Lord this wisdom comes from above and when we ask God for wisdom God sees the end result and he's like Tim make these steps do this and then I do it and it turns out good Tim okay now do this he puts it on my heart on my mind what should I do do this I make that step I do it and I see blessing that's the wisdom from God because when we ask his wisdom he gives us the steps to overcome our trials and to come out as a winner but how many times do we see when somebody is going through something hard they turn to to alcohol or they go to bars they're trying to chug down their sorrows but what they realize the next day is that when they are sober the problem is still there nothing has changed in their life they start turning to drugs but what they realize when they become sober nothing has changed the problem is still there and could even get us into jail or prison making it even worse that's the wisdom that the world gives you temporary pain solution but God gives us wisdom from above my dear friend if you're going through a trial Turn Your Eyes On Christ and say Lord what should I do what do you want me to do what steps do I need to take to be free to come out a winner maybe maybe we have a decision we need to make decision to buy a home decision to buy a car decision to get an apartment a job decision to meant relationships maybe we have decisions to make James teaches us ask God for Wisdom ask God for wisdom because when he gives you the the guidance and the steps you will not regret it but if you're not patient if you are unpatient you can ruin it for yourself you can make rash decisions quick decisions that end up actually being a cursing to your life and over here we see patience produces Perfection patience produces Perfection but that's because we were a able to hear what God had to say to us and make those steps that made us perfect but what's the most dangerous part in our life when we're going through a trial it's a person that doubts a person that doubts a person that's double-minded he doesn't know what to do he doesn't know what to do which in Trials we don't know what to do either but this person instead of going to God he's going to people that have the that have a bunch of their own problems that they can't resolve he goes to help those that can't help him and so when a person is double-minded when we're double-minded in life when we don't know what to do and we don't turn to God but to our knowledge we can actually hurt our hurt ourselves we can hurt relationships how many relationships have been uh I would say split apart because somebody you know made a a rash decision made a quick decision maybe a burst of anger didn't hold it down burst of anger said some things that forever broke that bond with children with parents with friends but over here James teaching say if you are doum minded ask for wisdom if you don't know what to do ask for wisdom from God if you need to make a decision in your life ask God for wisdom and you will see he will guide you and he will grow that [Music] seed that seed of patience in in you which then every decision that you're going to make is going to be perfect and complete and is going to make you in the image of Jesus Christ and I would like to to recap my dear friends what we spoke about this morning the Practical lessons of going through trials when we are able to go by those steps we will then understand that that trial brought me joy because it made me better than I was before it made me more patient it made me more loving it made me I would say rooted in Jesus Christ it increased my trust in the Lord now every in my life I have learned that okay I'm not not doing this without God it made me rooted in Christ and that's what God wants from us that he guides your steps not you because he knows that we are going to make the wrong steps that's why he wants to guide your steps so you can glorify him and say Lord thank you so much joy is also a fruit of the spirit you don't get that overnight it's also through patience of longsuffering do you then have joy joy in what you're happy joy in the hope that you will one day see Jesus and that this Earth is temporary joy in that you will be saved joy in that you will be in heaven dwelling with Jesus himself the one who died for you and me joy is not happiness on this Earth Joy is the Hope knowing that we're going to be with him when we die ask God for wisdom to handle trials in all in everything that we do run away from doubt if you doubt ask God for wisdom you know trials are not random they are opportunities to to grow and to refine us if you are not going through a trial right now you will go through a trial and when you do go to James chapter 1 read verses 2-8 Lord what should I do and he will guide your steps and with those words I would like us to kneel down and pray and uh if we can all rise we're going to sing a song by the name of Because He [Music] Lives God sent his son they call him Jesus he came to love heing [Music] for he lived and die to BU my part and empty grave is there to my savior L Because He Lives I Can Face to all tomorrow because he lives all fear is godone because I [Applause] know he L [Music] of and life is worth the Living Just Because He Lives how sweet to a newborn baby and feel the [Music] briide and joy he gives a greater St the C show the CH can face of s days because he Liv because he Liv I can face tomorrow because he Liv all fear is gone because I LS the future your life is wor the just because he Liv and then one day I'll cross the river I'll find my [Applause] star all more with and then I death his way to [Music] Victory I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know he Liv [Music] Because He Lives I Can Face tomorrow because he lives all fear is gone because I know he holds the F and life is worth the living just Because He Lives praise God well my dear friends our service has come to the end and our Bible study has uh come to the end for the verses 2 to8 but we'll be continuing verses 9 to 28 um so next week we're actually having a guest a guest speaker coming he's going to be uh speaking on Noah's Noah Arc I believe but anyways I already forgot there's a lot of topics uh but uh next week we're going to have a guest so please join us if you guys have uh friends or or anybody that wants to also come and join um and listen to the guest speaker let's all come and um but next week after that we will be continuing our lesson of James uh does anybody have any needs oh yeah Vlad is really sick yes dog yes okay sounds okay you know we're going to ask God for wisdom so we can make allergies okay okay you guys are really testing my memory today but after service uh we're going to go down to the gym and um there will be some um some coffee and some uh good stuff so we'll continue our service there but uh let's all stand up and pray Lord God we thank you Lord for this wonderful morning that you give us Lord and your lessons Lord God that you put in the in the scriptures Lord and this is Lord things that are uh useful in our life God because everybody will go through trials every a lot of people are currently going through trials Lord God may we remember to always look on you Lord and what you want us to do God we also pray for the sick Lord God we pray for Vlad Lord God you see he's very weak Lord he's recovering but we want full healing upon him we ask for the power of Jesus Christ and the blood to come over him and heal him fully Lord God that he is renewed and restored and ready to serve you Lord we pray pray for him we also pray for brother Doug Lord God you see his situation Lord God we ask Lord God you bring healing upon him Lord you bring healing upon him in the name of Jesus Christ you bring healing upon him Lord God and Lord God we we pray for the doctors Lord God that that they are Guided by the Holy Spirit to make the right decisions and may you give that confidence in Doug Lord God that he makes the right decisions where he's at right right now Lord we also pray for the sick here Lord for the for uh the the allergies Lord we ask for healing upon that and the leg Lord God of that sister Lord God we pray for her uh for Bonita Lord may you heal her leg Lord she she's asking Lord you she's asking you to heal her Lord and we also praying for Cole Lord he's looking for a job and again we're turning to you God for your wisdom and for your guidance because that's what the Bible teaches us Lord and you will God guide our ways and guide him to to apply at the right places that will give him the right job may your name be praised and glorified in Jesus name amen Our Father in heaven Hallowed Be Your Name Your Kingdom Come your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven give give us this day our daily bread forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from the evil one for your kingdom your power and Glory forever are yours amen be blessed and we'll see you in the Jil
