God's Order, the Fall, and a Sustainable Faith

[Music] I praise God Brothers and Sisters Let's thank God that he allowed us to come to this place today and uh I'd like to start off with reading Proverbs 13: 20 and over here it says walk with the wise and become wise for a c a companion of fools suffers harm so here in this Proverbs is telling us to really pay attention to who we surround ourselves with and uh one of the best ways that we can do that to surround ourselves with qualy people and godly peoples to come to church and to learn from these services to uh read the word to listen to the word and to learn from it and um you can build relationships in church uh there's a lot of beneficial things and you really start to see you know you start to analyze your life and look at the friendships that you have and the people that you surround yourself with and sometimes when you have those bad relationships you're like maybe I shouldn't you know hang out with those people anymore or do certain things and it just helps you with that so um let's kind of analyze our lives and try to uh maximize uh the people that we surround ourselves with and uh with that being said I'd like to just stand up and pray for the service thank you for all praise and glory be to you God thank you Lord God for the service they've given us God that we're able to come down to this place God and we ask you to bless the service Lord bless the preaching today God bless the singing Lord help us to learn something and to walk away not empty-handed Lord but with your word God and so it could guide us and lead us in our lives Lord we ask for the Holy Spirit to come down onto this place in Jesus name we pray amen amen and the song that will be sing today is going to be as the deer pans for streams of [Music] [Applause] [Music] water brothers and sisters uh it's been a pretty long time since I've been on this Podium it's been like a week just I'm just [Laughter] joking um so praise God for everything of course and today my sermon is going to be about murmuring and I would like to open up to uh Philippians chapter 2 uh verse 13- 15 and it says here for it is God who works in you both to Will and to do for his good pleasure do all things without complaining and disputing that you may become blameless and harmless children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation among whom you shine as light in the world so it is very important for us uh to uh especially in the church ministry not to complain about our Ministries and you know I'm I could be guilty for that too but I saw that when I complain about the Ministries maybe that I'm giving in the church I only get dragged down even more and I have more weight on my back I I would say and it's truly more Dreadful than it actually is when I think like that and I've seen that if I think positively towards all the Ministries that I have in the church and all the Ministries I am given in the church I see that I actually enjoy doing it and in in fact as we read in this verse um we can see that if you complain about certain things which then leads to uh people talking behind your back because people see that you are complaining about this that and you know it just you can you might not even know it you know you might be complaining to somebody about something and then they actually might spread some bad things about you so I don't know about you guys but I don't want anybody talking behind my back so um I also want to Al uh open up to uh Exodus chapter uh 16 verse 2-15 so this is the story of Israel in the desert um about murmuring and it's uh Exodus 16: 2-15 and it says here then the whole Congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in in the wilderness and the children of Israel said to them oh that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt when we sat by the pots of meat and we ate bread to the full for you have brought us into this Wilderness to kill this whole assembly with Hunger then the Lord said to to Moses behold I will ring bread from heaven for you and the people shall go out and gather a certain quarter every day that I may test them whether they walk in my law or not and it shall be in the um on the sixth day uh sorry I lost my place that may test them whether they shall walk in my law or not and it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel that evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt and in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord for he hears your complaints against the Lord but we are weed that you complain against us also Moses said this shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening and in the morning bread to the full for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against him and what are we your complaints are not against us but against the Lord then Moses spoke to Aaron said to all the congregation of the children of Israel come near before the Lord for he has heard your complaints now it came to pass as Aaron spoke to the whole Congregation of children of Israel that they looked toward the Wilderness and behold the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud and the Lord spoke to Moses saying I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel speak to them saying at Twilight you shall eat me and in the morning you shall be filled with bread and you shall know that I am the Lord your God so it was the quail came up at evening and covered the camp and in the morning the D lay all around the camp and when the later of D lifted there on the surface of wilderness was a small round substance as fine as frost on the ground so when the children of Israel saw it they said to one another what is it for they did not know what it was and so like I was saying we just read the story about the Israelites comp complaining and against God right and the Lord actually gave them what they asked for as we read in the word but sadly from all the blessings that God gave them um we can see that later in the story that they only uh began to murmur even more and it's sad to see because murmuring completely kills your faith in God and later on since then they uh they they stopped uh they never stopped complaining and the Lord slowly wiped out the generation of Israelites and in fact he wiped them out in the desert for 40 years as we all know due to complaining and from this story we could see uh the dangers of murmuring and how important it is to praise God in all circumstances and it could be hard of course you know um I sometimes complain not going to lie especially when we are in hardships in our lives uh but if you learn the concept of murmuring then it could pass on to your kids also and that's a very big deal because then your kids can be murmurous because of your actions and that's why the Lord wiped out the whole entire uh a lot of the u a lot of the Israelites because then the Lord knew that they would pass it on to their kids and to the Future generations of the Israelites and it's very interesting to think about and it's very important not to complain especially in front of your kids kids and I also want to open up to uh 1 Corinthians uh 10: 99-1 uh 1 Corinthians chapter 10 verse 9-1 and it says here nor let us tempt Christ as some of them also tempted and were destroyed by serpents nor complain as some of them also complained and they were destroyed by this Destroyer now all these things happened to them as examples and they were written for our admonition upon whom the ends of the ages have come so from the story that we also read previously we could see the punishments they took on in the desert because of murmuring um and just as I was uh previously talking about this is pretty much the verse the summary of what they were punished with and uh we could see how the Lord wiped them out so all I could say is don't murmur uh don't murmur because you might get bitten by a snake and die I'm just joking so uh let's open up to also to James uh chapter 5 verse 9 and this is a very simple verse do not Grumble against one another Brethren lest you be condemmed behold the judge is standing at the door so like I said this is a very simple verse but it has a lot of meaning to it and sometimes we can complain about certain Brethren inside our close Circle right H which then can lead also to gossip and creating no Unity within us and which is not good at all because uh the consequences can be very very great in this situation and for example a lot of people can have unforgiveness between all of us which can also lead to churches being split and that's what the devil wants because the devil hates Unity he and with no Unity results Great fals and that's why we should always watch with our mouths what we say towards each other especially complaining about others because it can honestly ruin your life and I've seen people who had many friends in their life but the thing is they like to complain and I've seen how they completely lost all their friends and now they even struggle to make friends and their whole entire life is pretty much ruined because they have a bad reputation about themselves because they complain so much about other people and it's so important not to complain or murmur and so here are some points on why not to murmur so it does nothing but causes un unneeded stress that's number one number two you might get what you want just like the Israelites got the food they craved in full but you forget all the things God has done for you number three the Israelites were killed because of it and number four it deteriorates your faith and number five it gives Satan an opportunity to sneak in and it opens up many of his lies and I also just want to open up to a final verse that I want to read and it's in Philippians 4:4 it's very short and it says here keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times I will say it again again keep on rejoicing so in conclusion always Rejoice no matter what no matter circumstance you're in and we can we can see in this verse that the Lord repeated it twice and when the Lord repeats something twice then it's very very important he's and he's trying to get into our heads right so Rejoice my f my fellow brothers and sisters and watch your mouth so your uh mouth will never be be corrupted and don't murmur amen let's pray Lord God I thank you for this day you have given us Lord God and I ask you Lord God cleanse our mouths Lord let us not murmur Lord let us always rejoice in your name because you has blessed us so much Lord all praise to you God all glory to you I Want To Praise Your Name and bless this service and bless the next preacher I ask you for that all glory to you God in Jesus name I pray amen all together now we'll be singing the savior is awesome let me tell you and I'll tell you why I've been around the church a long long time and what do you think one of the main problems we have in the church you nailed it we we struggle don't we so well anyway I um want to thank all of you for this wonderful opportunity to be here with you tonight with this amazing Church once again because um I wanted to come here and share God's precious word with you tonight and I feel like I'm among friends and family you guys are just awesome you always make us feel so good and and uh speaking of that I've invited my family to be here tonight so my wife Melody my son Elias and uh so they've come to be a part of part of our our program tonight so last time we were here it was uh December for the Christmas program and it was amazing and I had a little conversation tonight with rose about the European treats so uh you guys gave us so much to take home we shared them with our church and the first thing the guys were saying is where is the people who made this so you could have a whole business around that so now I've been able to watch some of the um New evening services on online and it's just it's just been great I've been able to see um uh I've been so blessed by brother Tim and and uh Henry and Peter and uh Mark uh you just a beautiful job you guys it's just been so amazing and even brother Zach so uh Zach's a character isn't he they've know each other for quite some time and what's interesting when uh Peter was talking about his um his slides I don't know if you remember that and and uh so what was it here compared to Peter's six slides I guess brother Zach only had two so what's interesting is tonight I won't disappoint I only have one so um and we'll be getting into that later so uh what is able um I mean what is also something astounding is the message that you did tonight the messages that you guys have presented is that my message tonight I did it before I watched your messages so what's awesome is to watch the orchestra a of the Holy Spirit bring these messages together uh and kind of uh you know sometimes the the the Bible can be bit of a puzzle at time but you watch watch the Lord do these amazing things and how he brings things together so before we get started here I want to pray with you guys and then we'll get started with the message so father God we just come before your presence Lord your your throne of grace tonight Lord God we just establish you as the full of authority over our lives Lord God your word demonstrates to us gives us what what and we're supposed to be doing Lord God and what we're supposed to be doing every day in our in our life for you uh with our families with our workers with everybody we come in contact with Lord God I pray you guide and direct us and thank you for this church body as they are growing Lord God in you each and every day and we thank you Father in Jesus precious name amen well tonight guys I want you to open your Bibles uh or you have your Bible apps whatever you're using uh two the message I'm going to start out with is Genesis 1 1-2 I'm hitting it right from the beginning okay so that's where it all begins and what you'll see tonight is um God doing a very special thing because we're what we're seeing here in these verses is the creation of the world as written down by by Moses as recorded by Moses and each verse after this is slowly provides for us a moment by moment Insight in a how a loving God is really building a special place for his family for his future family that's what we see in these verses and and it's a place that will eventually However unfortunately only going to be seen and experienced by two humans a host of animals and plant life and an evil deceiver so we open up the Book of Genesis and we have this amazing account that begins and then you see through these 31 verses a beautiful sequence of events that begins to happen here that ends this way in verse 31 it says and God saw everything that he had made and behold and what did he say he said it was very good he was very pleased and there was evening and there was morning the sixth day now in verses 26 through 28 we witness the creation of Adam and Eve and in verse 27 it specifically says so God created man in his own image in the image of God he created him male and female he created them now the rest of these verses what they do is they are the instructions that God gives them to subdue the Earth and to also have dominion over everything that is living now I want you to have this picture in your mind tonight you guys um of what God has shown in just these few verses he's showing um what we call his attributes so he is a holy God and we get a glimpse of who he is right in the beginning so here's what we're going to see in these attributes the first one I'm going to use a Latin phrase It's called ex nilo what that means is God creates creates matter and life out of nothing nobody can do what God does there's nobody can do that another thing about his attributes is he desires a relationship with his creation another thing is he is benevolent God is kind he is also a loving provider he is orderly he is not chaotic so now we quickly see a radical change that takes place that you're all familiar with and this is when begin reading in Chapter 3 of Genesis and here is what is written this is what we call the fall okay and in this section it says now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made and then he talks to the woman this creature okay he says to the woman did God actually say those words have been said since the very beginning of time and continually are said they they're spoken out there they're whispered but boy look at social media it's a constant bombardment is ah you know whatever Bible Christians so then he then then Eve speaks back to him and she says these words she says and the woman said to the serpent we may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden like hey Mr creature talking to me you you think God gave us some instructions here but it continues on but God said he also said something else he said You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden neither shall you touch it lest you die now what's interesting here Eve and Adam had no experience with death but we know they must have had a concept because he had spoke to them about a consequence that's going to come so now the serpent gets more crafty right he thought I got her here I didn't I'm going to try again so he says these words but the serpent said to the woman he said but you shall not surely die what you see here in this account is Satan is actually telling her God's a liar this this these words these things he has spoken to you uhuh he has another plan you're missing it let me share with you the truth you're not going to die for God knows that when you eat eat of it your eyes will be open and you will be like God can you believe that knowing good and evil and she's going wow there's a thought um maybe he's got something here okay so when the woman saw that the tree was good for food because now she's there and she's having this experience and going you know this guy may have something here and that is what was a delight to the eyes and the scripture goes on to say that the tree was to be desired to make one wise so she took of its fruit and ate and she also gave some to her husband who was with her and he ate then the eyes of both were opened and they knew that they were naked here's the interesting thing we find Eve and the serpent having this interaction where's Adam he's just kind of hanging out over here like no intervention no interaction who did God create first Adam what's going on with him it's like he went you know this is East show right now so back in away and so it gets really interesting because the eyes of them were opened at this point and they knew that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin cloths and they heard the sound of the Lord Walking In The Garden in the cool of the day and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God Among the Trees of the garden now let's stop right there for a second right now for the first time in recorded history you have our first Human Experience some experiencing some emotions that they never knew before now they know shame and now they know guilt it was never there so you see this transition taking place so they hid themselves in the presence of the Lord among the Trees of the garden but the Lord called to the man now he's calling out ad Adam where are you and he said well probably trembling a bit I heard the sound of you in the garden and I was afraid shame guilt fear okay because I was naked and I hid myself he said who told you that you were naked have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat the man said oh here's where it gets really amazing what does he say let's read what he says well you guys know what a blaming he's blaming God oh this is getting bad this is you know this whole thing and then the Lord said to the woman okay he's like okay Adam what is this that you have done and the woman said oh she pulls out her and the serpent deceived me and I ate now the Lord is laying down the law here a bit the Lord God said to the serpent starts with him starts with the Enemy because you have done this cursed are you above all livestock above all Beasts of the field on your belly you shall go and the dust you shall eat all the days of your life now this is probably thank you guys for putting up that verse there is the most amazing verse that we need to really pay attention to tonight so it'll it'll pull together the whole message but we look at verse 15 he says now I will put enmity which means a state of feeling uh of being actively opposed or hostile to somebody between you and the woman so I'm going to put enmity between you and the woman talking directly to Satan and between your Offspring so Satan is going to have Offspring and her Offspring she's going to have Offspring he shall crush your head and you shall bruise his heel and then to the woman he said you will surely multiply in your pain in childbearing in pain you shall bring forth children your desire shall be contrary to your husband but he shall rule over you and to Adam he said because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you you shall not eat of it cursed is the ground because of you in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you and you shall eat the plants of the field by the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground for out of it you were taken for you are dust and to dust you shall return and the man called his wife Eve because she was the mother of all living and the Lord God Made For Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them for the first time now we have the shedding of blood and then the Lord said behold the man has become like one of us who was he speaking we have a moment here in scripture one of us that moment of a Holy Trinity and the Heavenly hosts because now they're knowing good and evil lest he reach out his hand and take also over the tree of life because now that's going to be forbidden and eat and live forever therefore the Lord God sent him out of the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken he drove out the man and the east at the east of the Garden of Eden he placed the cherubim of flaming sword sword that turned every way to guard the way to the Tree of Life okay the title of my sermon tonight you guys is an established order for our lives a sustainable Faith okay so where we're going to go with this we and reading these this a lot of this passages from Genesis here is we've just seen a loving God establishing a perfect order for everything everything he creates including the creation of human life everything is perfect then we quickly read in chapter three the interaction of the serpent with Adam and Eve which takes us into the fall and the results are now very changing they show now what we what we see as destruction as absolute chaos and Adam and Eve being completely exiled from this perfect Paradise this Garden of paradise this this perfect environment so I'm going to look one more time at verse 15 this is God speaking directly to Eve or the serpent into Eve I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your Offspring and her Offspring he shall crush your head and you shall bruise his heel so the information I'm going to be sharing now is a compilation of my own words and some um people that I've researched over the years different Scholars and commentaries in looking at this story and extending it into where this passage or where this message is going to go so because what you see here even in the judgment is there is Mercy and God's curse on the serpent in particular was laced believe it or not with some words of Hope the woman mentioned in Genesis um 3:15 we know is Eve and the serpent uh addressed directly is the animal that Satan used to deceive her but some of the curse was directed at the animal too that we see in verse 14 and at the same time the curse of God falls upon on Satan and this is important to know who had taken the Serpent's form or uh the body in Eden this has uh direct correlation to what we read in Revelation now so I'm going to jump from Genesis now into Revelation 129 and I'll read from there and the Great Dragon was thrown down that ancient serpent who is called the devil and Satan the deceiver of of the whole world he was thrown down to the Earth and his angels were thrown down with him so the part of the curse the enmity which is that Mutual hatred and ill will it it's going to exist between the woman and the serpent but later that same enmity will continue between the woman's seed or offspring or what we would call Mankind in general since Eve is the mother of all living Genesis 3:20 and the serpent seed now their offspring what's going to happen here will remain enemies throughout all generations so what's being established here and what's being um told about our futures is that's not going to end it's not going to end till we get to the end right this is going to be that ongoing battle which you spoke about Tim you were talking about that ongoing battle and the Serpent's offspring are demonic forces also believe it or not those people who follow the devil and accomplish his will and we even see this when Jesus called out the Pharisees he calls them a pretty nasty name he calls them brood of vipers we read that in Matthew 12:34 and he said they belong to the fa their father the devil so he didn't look at them very kindly or as believers and we read that right out of John 8:44 so in short God says that Satan will always be the enemy of mankind it follows that people who side with the Enemy with Satan will be the perpet with Perpetual war with us and don't you guys feel that sometimes especially just things in the media things you you know hear even our community or friends or I mean people we know uh you can tell kind of where they're at and what side they're on now also God says that Satan will also be the enemy of mankind it follows that people whose side will Satan will be at Perpetual war with God's elect and that we are engaged in in a very real battle and we read this in Ephesians 6:12 so going back to Genesis 3:15 again is a remarkable verse because this is called uh what theologians or uh different teachers call the Proto evangelium and literally means the very first gospel so because it's the Bible's first prediction of a savior so the second half of the verse gives two Messianic prophecies concerning the Savior the first one in Genesis 3:15 is that he will crush your head so he's telling Satan here's what's coming for you you've messed this thing up I knew you were going to mess it up so here's what going to happen and the Amplified Bible makes it clear that the woman's seed is more than mankind in general it is an individual representing all mankind so the second Messianic prophecy in Genesis 3:15 you will strike his heel that is the serpent will bite the heel of the woman's seed the heel bite is set in contrast to the Head Crush okay as the Amplified Bible brings out and you shall only very clearly you're only going to bruise his heel this is not going to be a major event even though you've had this crafty plan it's going to change so this passage points to the promise of Jesus's birth it points to his Redemption and his victory over Satan the woman's Offspring is Jesus being virgin born he is literally The Offspring of a woman Matthew 1:25 Galatians 4:4 Isaiah 7:14 we even have an reference from the Old Testament here being the son of man he is Jesus is the perfect representative of humankind the devil's Offspring were the evil men and demonic forces who if you think about it were like a snake they're waiting just for the Savior and struck him then their venomous conspiracy condemned Jesus to be crucified but here's the deal the Serpent's strike did not spell the end of the off spring of the woman Jesus rose the third day amen breaking the power of death winning the ultimate Victory with the cross Jesus crushed the devil's head so we see that prediction thousands of years bam there it is defeating him forever so in Genesis 3:15 the crushing of the Serpent's head was a picture of Jesus's triumph over sin and Satan at the cross John 12:31 now the Striking of the messiah's heel was a picture of the wounding and death of Jesus on the cross Satan bruised Jesus's heel but Jesus showed the important part here everything I just told you but complete dominance over Satan by crushing his head but Satan although he's still active in this world we know that he's a defeated foe we need to remind ourselves of that his Doom is sure and the devil was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur that's Revelation 20110 until that time there remains enmity between Satan and God's children now I'm spending a lot of time in this part of the account uh and looking at Genesis very heavily but I am taking you someplace so be pray uh be uh patient the Proto evangelium what does it show us it shows us that God always had the Plan of Salvation it's not like uh all of this happened and God God was going how' this happen I just I built Eve and this guy came in and messed it up and no I know it's hard to wrap our head around it sometimes but God always knew and we are in that time now so he knew the Plan of Salvation in mind and he had it in mind and he formed us of his plan as soon as Sin entered the world and Satan formul ated a plan as well involving the serpent in Eden but God was way ahead of him on all of this and he always is having already ordained the serpent Crusher Jesus Christ perfectly fulfilled God's Mission as he came to Earth and did what he did so the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the enemy's work 1 John 3:8 says whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil for the devil has been sinning from the beginning the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil so I'd like to do a quick biblical re uh history review with you guys tonight from this time forward and if you guys want to put up the um history timeline um so we just get a gain a better understanding because what I'm going to look like I hope you guys can see that o see that okay um um I'll just tell you I've worked in the mental health field for over 40 years I've taught psychology uh at the college University level for about 20 years and it's very interesting that psychology as far as what it is you know uh it's a scientific study and it's very basic of the mind and behavior according to the APA which is the American Psychological Association psychology is pretty much a new science with most advances happening really in about the last 150 years however its Origins can be traced back to the ancient Greeks about 400 BC 4 to 500 BC because they wrote things down uh Aristotle and different Greek minds they would talk about just behavior and trying to understand the human mind biblically it goes all the way back to the beginning so if you break down the word psychology it's very interesting the true definition is the study of the Soul or Spirit now in modern psychology there's very little trace of that unless you a follower of Jesus and you see through the lens of a Biblical worldview and have a clear understanding of God's perspective as the creator of Everything Seen and unseen especially in the light of His Image bearers as our creator because without that perspective everything in in the psychological World a lot of it falls into what we call random speculation even a lot of the science is skewed uh and it's based on philosophies of men so there's some really problematic areas in the world of Psych without a Biblical worldview so tonight I want to spend a little time on this one slide just just talking about how we think in human behavior so I want to highlight some of the events up here um to give us a basic understanding to try to understand because have you ever asked yourself have you ever asked yourself what was I thinking did you ever ask that did you ask yourself why did I do that and you're Christians right but we blow it we make mistakes so psychologists try to figure this stuff out a lot of times but without having an understanding of of human behavior through the lens of what sin can do it can go a lot of different directions so let's look at various these various time in history so uh we went over the creation account and recognized the fall de decisions made um we quickly saw in that the consequences of Adam and Eve and then in Genesis 4 think I have that up there the effects of sin I don't may not yeah I think it is uh the effects of sin once again are coming into play and we see Cain killing Abel because of what because of the same attitude towards God once again reading the results of wrong thinking and behaviors towards the Lord and then we jump to Genesis 6 we read the account of the behavior which led to the great flood which shows how quickly humankind defied the Living God through absolute Disobedience where we see increasing Corruptions on the corruption on the earth and here's the words we read there when the man when man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were attractive they took as their wives any they chose then the Lord said my spirit shall not abide in man forever for he is flesh his days shall be 120 years the Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also afterward when the sons of God came into the daughters of men and they bore children to them these were the Mighty Men Who were of old and the men of renown now the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil only evil continually and the Lord regretted that he had made man on the earth and it grieved him to his heart so the Lord said I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens for I am sorry that I have made them but Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord so now we we know the rest of that horrible story and knowing uh Noah and his family they are a small Remnant that's left of humanity because of something very very simple you so there was trust and there was obedience involved in that process but everybody else the effects of sin and total depravity we haven't seen that yet here we've seen glimpses of it over in history um but never to this degree yet but it's coming now Genesis 11 1-9 we have the account of the Tower of Babel and where the whole people of the Earth had one language and what you see here is a real Pride FR Factor you have people saying hey let's make a name for ourselves this will be awesome let's build a tower to heaven and they were just all about it right and once again we see the image bearers forgetting and ignoring God they were putting themsel as God once again and the Lord said here it is again let us go down to them and let's confuse their language because of their Disobedience and he dispersed them from there all over the earth now in Genesis 12 we read the account now of something that's happening because you see this back and forth playing out in the history and here you see something very extraordinary the call of Abraham we see the Lord once again offering mercy and Grace To His Image bearers he's rebooting right he's offering love grace and mercy once again now the Lord said to ad Adam go from your country and your Kindred your father's house to the land that I will show you and I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing I will bless those who bless you and him who dishonors you I will curse and in you all the families of the Earth shall be blessed very interesting that God calls out this guy who's a pagan from ER very interesting the wonderful thing is Abraham hears Abraham listens Abraham obeys so he didn't have any Bible or anything like that but he heard God and God directly related to him and that everything changed now at this point for the sake of time I'm going to highlight some other areas in the in our time zone here time timeline there just some of the people and one of them um is Joseph very interesting uh character in the scripture because God uses a very hotty young man uh because he has a very hotty attitude to towards his brothers right and the storyline shows that that in this all the things that happen to Joseph is what amazing the person he becomes because in all of his trials and tribulations he's changed and Everything's changed and he's built by becoming an overcomer and a leader and in spite of those trials and tribulations and this is because of a couple of things here trust and Obey right two songs I wonder if you know do you remember Father Abraham just want of you remember that so we tell on the story do but do you remember the song trust and Obey yeah simple song but it's the truth now here it says then the Lord said to Abram because here's something else that's going to happen but let me back up here let's talk about the Israelites in Egypt for a minute because we see in this account a part of that back and forth sometimes it's between an individual in God or a couple in God and then groups with God and in this one it's a group we see in this account 430 years of Exile and the reason they failed to follow God's instructions one more time God gives Abraham a prophecy though of what's going to happen in the future and here we see this in Genesis 15 15 now 13-4 then the Lord said to Abraham know for certain that your Offspring will be soers in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there they will be a afflicted for 400 years but I will bring judgment on the nation that they serve and afterward they shall come out with great possessions what's he talking about there right now what is it Egypt right there it is right but he told this many years before this was going to happen so moving forward in the timeline we see going back and forth here consistently of obedience versus disobedience in the lives of a lot of people lives of Moses Joshua the judges the Kings such as Samuel first King David Solomon the prophets so we read the accounts of the prophets warnings they were very powerful characters power powerful people in scripture of things to come they were always coming and and telling you know these guys hey you're really messing up here really warning them of their their Disobedience and their sinful behavior and then we see the Jews exiled once again in 2 Chronicles 36 17- 21 she has up there and this is for big group Disobedience again we read about Isaiah Daniel Jeremiah other prophets that God would send and Warn and Warn and instruct on God's desires for his people going all the way back to Genesis 1 where we started now all of these failures they really relate to a lack of trust and showing absolute Disobedience based on these words will we read in chapter three of Genesis once again the deceiver speaking did God really say and then the serpent said to the woman you will not surely die for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be open and you will be like God knowing good and evil you know what's interesting Satan does not really need to be clever you think about it he knows everything about how we think you can't read our minds but he just has been watching human behavior for thousands of years and he just continues to throw the same old stuff at us every day it's not unique if you made a list it's fairly small it's the same old thing to trip us up right so he keeps sending false teachers too that will try to mess us up sends false teachers even into the church we're seeing churches all over the place that are are are not doing well because they're listening to some of these false teachers and we see this happening right at the beginning of the early church so let's bring our final focus in to the most important part of the timeline and that is the birth death and resurrection and Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ now this is the culmination of where we began in Genesis 1 and the promise of the savior is based on our inability to think and behave really in a consistent Godly manner we all struggle with this but in Genesis 1 we read the Proto evangelium of the First Gospel showing God's eternal love for his image bears and another attribute God knowing the future so in Luke 2 we read the account of Jesus's birth right up to his timeline in the temple and we go through all the incredible Miracles demonstrating his full-on authority who he was who he is he spoke first to the Jews he even spoke to the Samaritans he even spoke to some of the Gentiles and later we see this account concerning the Miracles that Jesus did from John 20:30 says now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples which are not written in this book but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the son of God that by believing you may have life in his name in other words the evidence for Jesus being who he said he was and who he says he is is absolutely overwhelming there's no other human in history that can compare there's no room for doubt the Bible has been so scrutinized above any other book and nothing can can be can be compared to it nothing can be uh my early years in college was a non-believer and it was this kind of reality that people presented to me that really started to open my eyes to oh I was raised in church but I traveled in this Destiny of these other people of unbelief and Disobedience and then people kept telling me things in the strangest places uh I was in a place called The House of Pies one night and some guy came and started telling me about Jesus while I was eating my pie I went awesome and he was really good and I said No thanks and then one day I was at the beach surfing and a guy walked up on the beach and he tells me once again he's bringing me the gospel and I went this is the second guy you know and then a third person and then my wife shows up and she tells me the story My Brother tells me the story my brother told me don't you remember when we used to go to church well I'm back there again and I'm going not me resistance resistance but then the Holy Spirit begins to work on you right begins to make those changes in here and in your heart and not there but and and tells you this is the truth this is the truth and the enemy sitting there go no it's not did God really say no that's what overcame me so how do we have an established order for our life with a sustainable Faith it's simple but yet it's difficult because as Christians our lives are not easy there's a lot of things against us now our written Biblical history starts in Genesis where we began and ending in Revelation is quite clear if we read the patterns this is something that helps me all the time reading the patterns of the Overcomers in the Old and New Testament what did they do different that made them go I'm going straight I'm going straight Paul tells us in Hebrews and and in in some of the other letters so how do we do it we do the same thing as they did we look forward to that day and live eternally for our Lord Jesus Christ we continue to read his word just what you were saying brother we continue to read his word we hang around with people that encourage Us in the faith right it's okay to hang around with the other people just not too long okay because they may want to take you someplace you shouldn't go not just you don't want to go but you just shouldn't go but you keep presenting and doing that what Jesus called all of us to do so I know there may be people here tonight that may have not either made a decision to follow Jesus could be wavering you could be you know asking a lot of questions and sometimes people will say to themselves I'm not good enough you're right none of us are right if we were good enough we wouldn't need Jesus Jesus is the only one that's good he's the only one good enough but you you have everybody here here that can encourage you uh pray for you and uh but um faith in Jesus that's what really makes everything awesome so I wanted to end with just um uh those scriptures those last scriptures you guys can put up um and then we'll have a word of prayer and follow up with a word of prayer here you guys so he'll put up those following because I those last scriptures I want to give two things to him warnings to keep us on track and also encouragement the word is always encouraging us to stay on the right path to stay with the Lord so let's pray together you guys and we'll be singing our last song today uh yet not I but through Christ in [Music] [Music] me what gift of Grace is Jesus My Redeemer there is no for heaven now to give he is my joy my righteousness and freedom my steadfast love my deep and boundless peace to this I hope my hope is only Jesus for my love is fly bound to him oh my strange and divine I can sing all is mine yet not but through Christ in me the night is dark but I am not forsen for by my side the savior he will stay I labor on in weakness and rejoicing for in my need his power is displayed to this I home my shepherd will fend me through the deepest valley he will oh the night has been won and I shall overcome yet not I but through Christ in me no fate I dread I know I am forgiv the future sure the price it has been paid for Jesus went and suffered for my paron and he was raised to overthrow the grave to this I own my sin has been [Music] defeated Jesus now whenever is my C oh the chains are released I can sing I am free yet not I but through Christ in me with every word I long to follow Jesus for he has said that he will bring me home and day by day I know he will Ren me until I stand with joy Before the Throne to this I hope my hope is only Jesus all the glory ever more to when the race is complete still my lip shall repeat not I but through Christ [Music] in praise God my dear friends that was a good song yet not I but Jesus Jesus Through me and you know that's our life that's our life Jesus Through us if we do things on our own yeah I ain't going to even go that that road it ain't good you know but I think we heard a lot of good message that you know diit and brother Michael spoke on I will not murmur about the the comp comption we will have who's going to win but uh may the Lord you know help all of us uh control our tongue you know and our mind and uh like uh Michael said that to encourage each other you know we're here to encourage each other and may we encourage each other by the word of God because the Bible teaches us how to encourage to to uh pray for each other when somebody is uh in a hard time or maybe going uh through something hard we pray for each other and encourage each other amen so we have some people that are sick um brother Zach texted me today he's like Tim we're sick again and um I actually got sick yesterday but you know it ain't stopping me uh no you ain't no you ain't um but we're going to uh pray for everybody that is sick and um so you know God uh brings healing is there any more needs okay let's yes oh wow okay well we're going to call in the blood of Jesus Christ amen okay let's pray Lord God we thank you for the word that has been spoken today Lord may this seed may this Mustard Seed Lord grow in our hearts and in our lives Lord God that we can be a tree God that is used by you Lord God may you use us Lord to be that light to others Lord God and how much we heard about Lord Lord how good you are Lord and how you defeated Satan Lord God you stepped you stepped right on him Lord God but you came out Lord and you defeated him we thank you Lord we also pray for healing Lord God of uh brother Zach and like in everybody that is sick Lord we we ask for you to heal them Lord God and we ask for the the nephew's wife Lord God may you um like heal her Lord God like in the name and in the blood of Jesus Christ we call upon to heal her Lord God and bless her Lord may your name be praised and glorified in Jesus name we pray amen Our Father in heaven Hallowed Be Your Name Your Kingdom Come your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from the evil one for your kingdom your power and Glory forever are yours amen
