United Under God: One Nation in Christ

satisfied now he has come to make a way and God himself has paid the price that all who trust in him today find healing in his [Music] sacrifice that all who trust in him today find healing in his [Music] sacrifice I will wait for you I will wait for you through the storm and through the night I will wait for you I will wait for you for your love is my delight I will wait for you I will wait for you all your word I will R I will wait for you I will wait for you for your love is might de my dear friends praise the Lord you know we we singing very nice songs I will wait for you I will wait for you and I will rely on your word and how much do we need God's word how much do we need God's word in our life but my topic today is going to be called chasing the we will learn that humans that's us are never satisfied we we tend to get something and then want more but the scripture tells us that you can be satisfied and I'm here to share that with all of us today that my dear friends we can be satisfied today if we feel like our entire life we're on this race to get more and more and more our entire life is going to be like that but the Bible teaches us that there is satisfaction and we know in who and that's in our God I want to share with you a story that I heard maybe a couple years ago I mean I don't know all the details but it's a story of a successful man that used to live in uh Canada and he had a beautiful home on a huge acres of land many acres of land and that land was very beautiful it had a small like a like a river or a creek kind of going down his uh property you know but this man wasn't satisfied he wasn't satisfied with what he had and he said you know if if only and this is a true story if only I could find like something that will bring me more wealth a mine a gold mine and so he went on a mission he went on a mission to to see that if he could get satisfaction from wealth and so he went to Asia he went to Africa to find that that mind that that mind that's going to bring him money that's going to bring him wealth but to his surprise he came home empty-handed every time the gold mine wasn't there and so he would save up some more money and then he would go out again in searching for that gold mine and what and on one of his uh trips he got really sick really sick and he and he uh barely made it home he barely made it home and the money that he saved he had no more he had no more he couldn't even help himself anymore he was sick and he couldn't even help himself anymore so after a short period of time he passed away and so his home with all those acres of land got auctioned off it got auctioned off and some some people uh purchased that house they want it at the auction and as they were looking at at the house they were amazed they went out into the backyard and they were seeing all the land they were amazed and they saw that that river that was running through they're like wow wow and when they were looking more they saw something shiny in the water and so they came up and they saw a gold nugget that house was standing on a gold Gold Mine can't you believe that and to this day it's one of the largest gold mines like in a Canada the man was sitting on a gold mine but he didn't know because he was always searching for more and more to satisfy his desire my dear friends we have that gold mine yes our Lord Jesus Christ he is our gold mine he gave his life for us why are we always searching for more instead of searching for him I'd like to I'd like to open up to Matthew 4 8-10 and over here like we know this story this is when Jesus was getting uh tempted by Satan and Satan was trying to give him everything but Jesus was saying no and he would answer the devil but the Last Temptation let's read again the devil took him to a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their Splendor all this I will give you he said if you will Bow Down and Worship me Jesus said to him away from me Satan for it is written Worship the Lord your God and serve him only we don't see Jesus negotiating with Satan we don't see Jesus thinking maybe it's a good deal Jesus answered him direct away from me Satan how many times has Satan came to us with that temptation it almost seems like every day you can become successful put your energy put your energy in this and this and this and this and this and we're working and we're working and we're working and we're working but that doesn't satisfy our desire so we keep on working more we keep on working more but Jesus over here answers away from me Satan how many of us are the world worshippers the one who worship the Splendor of this world the power of this world of this world the popularity we want to be popular we want to have friends the fame the trends how many of us worship this world God created us for one purpose and that's to worship him that's to give honor to him but the S but Satan that's the last thing he wants you to do is to worship God who created all of you including him Satan doesn't like that he wants this world to worship him because he wants to be like God and he knows he can be like him so he's trying to distract us every day do this you don't have time to read your word come on work work work go hang out with your friends go have some fun go have a good time and we do and we do but that never satisfies our desire we still want more of it what is the the world that the that the devil was offering Christ we see he like he was offering him everything you can be you can be not only wealthy but you can rule you can be popular you you can be huge in this on this Earth and how many times we see right now pastors are falling because they want to be big in this world so they're trying to look like this world they want to be the popular ones you know it's sad I I heard a testimony of a person that was going to one of these mega churches but I'm not even just talking about mega churches I'm I'm talking about anybody but but he was saying you know what I've been there for many years and I've actually never even shook my pastor's hand after he's done with his sermon he's out the back that's it he's a star he's a star in the church everybody wants to meet him but he a star he got no time for you these are the pastors that are growing churches today they want that rule that power but even Jesus himself said none of that only I will worship God 1 John 2 I'll be reading we know this passage but it always hits home it always hits home because the devil he comes to us with these Temptations it says do not love the world or the things in the world if anyone loves the world the love of God is not in him for all that is in the world the desires of the Flesh and the desires of the eyes and the pride of life is not from God but is from from the world and the world is passing away along with all those desires it's going to pass away but whoever does the will of God abides forever that's the problem all that Fame popularity all that that wealth is going to all pass away and if we're chasing that our entire life like this like this man that had a beautiful home on so many acres of land he was sitting on an actual gold mine even all of that's going to pass away if we're chasing that we're going to die with nothing we're going to die not even being saved do not love the world or the things in the world you might ask me Tim how could I love the world I'm a good person I don't cheat I don't steal I don't swear I don't drink I'm friendly well let me ask you this how much time does God have in your busy schedule and let me ask you a second question do you spend more time loving what's in the World in your phone in your computer or do you spend time loving God in the word it's not the matter of if you're good or bad it's the matter of how much do you love God how much do you love God you can tell you can tell everybody that I love God I remember asking a group of uh young adults do you all love Jesus and they all raise their hands of course we're going to all raise our hands but does Jesus know that you really love him and you can ask that yourself do I really love God you know you either love God or you love the world you can't love both you can't you either Mo look more like Christ in your life or more like the devil you can't look both well you can say you know Tim I don't want to love God I love this world so your message doesn't speak to me well you know let me ask you this like how has the world been uh treating you are you satisfied do you have joy in your life or do you have pain are you happy or are you lonely are you free or are you depressed do you feel at ease you can wake up in the morning and feel good or do you feel like you're always dragging some kind of weight every single day my dear friend if you feel sad lonely and with a lot of weight on your shoulders just know that you don't have to to feel like that you don't have to that's the choices that we make by not serving Christ that's the choices that we make by loving this world but God says I can free you from all of that and even though you will have hard moments in your life even though you will cry even though you will laugh but at least you'll have peace and joy something that the world can't give you only if we could look upon him and say Lord I want to love you I want to love you but I don't know how teach me and if you're ready to love God he will open up to you he will open up to you let's let's open up to to Isaiah 58 verse 11 and over here it says and the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong and you shall be like a watered Garden like a spring of water whose Waters do not fail here I here Isaiah says that the Lord is the one who can satisfy you this world will never give you satisfaction you will always want more it will never give you enough you will always want more but God can give us that satisfaction and says like even in the scorched places meaning that there's nothing around us just ground under our feet we can be in the desert but if we have God we have everything we will not be lonely we will not be hurt we will have joy and peace because we know we have God and you know what's so funny sometimes I feel like Lord can you take me you know sometimes now because here this is a sad life but I just want to be with you in heaven before I couldn't say those words because my feet were grounded to this earth I wanted to live I wanted to live for this world but when we can say Lord I want to be with you then that shows that you truly love him you know when you love somebody you don't want to be separated from them you always want to be with them and if you love God you always want to be with him be it on Earth or in heaven or wherever it is your relationship with him is much more than what this world can offer you because he satisfies all your desires you know uh like I'll come home I'll come home and my wife is at home you know I can be in like like anywhere garage or backyard but knowing the fact that my wife is at home that satisfies all my desires but when she tells me honey I need to go to the store I'm like oh man like do you really need to when I'm at home cuz when she goes to the store she's not there at home when we love God he fulfills all our desires we can't even separate from him because the love is so strong and my dear friends we will only understand this when we love him I can preach to you for 10 hours about satisfying your desire but you will only understand this when you love him you will see how he will satisfy all your desires may his name be praised and glorified amen let's pray amen alt together we'll sing I [Music] light hello dear friends praise God God actually beautiful song well well done good words and A good sermon brother Tim preached about um you know who Jesus is and the more we uh think about him the more we realize how valuable he actually is to us and so and I also was thinking about uh brother Zach and I told him you know you use PowerPoints I'm going to have to use more PowerPoints than you and I had to keep the promise so I know he preached twice and used two slides and I have six so hopefully it's not going to take six times as much time um and you know I typically don't preaching English but um so maybe I'm not sure if this is my first or second sermon but um so today what I wanted us to preach is because the church and um we begin to see different people here we see Zachary is here and we see uh the lawrences and we see people uh from the Middle East sometimes and I actually wanted to preach about a topic called United under God and um and just wanted to look at some things as um a lot of people think about what Unity is and then what actually the scripture says Unity is and um I'll ask for some slides yes here's the first one and so I believe all of you kind of know maybe the pledge of the legance uh when we moved to this country you know I came to school and there was the Pledge of the allegiance and it kind of goes so it was actually made in 1892 by a Baptist preacher um and saw a minister and he came up with this Pledge of the allegiance in 1950s they added under God but it reads kind of like I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation under God indivisible with liberty and justice for all and um an interesting here the word is um you know one nation uh under god um so when we think about this pledge of of Allegiance it's um one promises his loyalty his loyalty uh to the country in in this respect it's to the United States now I happened to grow up also in the Soviet Union and um and when I was in first grade maybe go to the second slide there was this and so and also um I remember I was in first grade and there was allegiance to the to the Soviet Union and to the Communist ideology and it also started very early uh quite frankly in the first grade and I remember they announced that there was going to be the ceremony and the first graders that are um promising their uh unity and being uh loyal to the country they were going to get rewarded with this um lapel it's called AATA or October rights or something like this and then grades would progress um and then there would be different stages of loyalty as students got older and I remember on that day we would actually skip school and not go you know and then we come back and everybody has their Badges and ours is missing because you know our thing uh is that we were basically problems in loyalty to God and we were just going to be loyal to God and and so that's how we understood it and we were going to serve god um you know pledging loyalty to one's country it didn't start in the United States with the Baptist preacher it didn't start in the Soviet Union uh with a communist it actually goes back a long time and if we really go really really long time we'll actually come back to a place in history where the world was really United they were really loyal like like loyal as no other time in history and so we actually read about it in Genesis 11:1 through six it says now the whole earth used the same language and the same words it came about as they journeyed East that they found a plane in the land of shinar and settled there they said to one another come let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly and they used bricks for stone and they used tar for Mortar they they said come let us build for ourselves a city a tower whose top will reach into the heaven and let us make for ourselves a name otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth and then it says the Lord came down uh to see the city and Tower which the sons of man had built the Lord said behold they are one people and they all have the same language and this is what they began to do and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them you know and these specific words and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them that's the power of a United human race even God when he came and he when he looked at that United human race he said if they're going to stay really United not nothing is going to be impossible for them and so we see um what God does and and why was God against this Unity it it's specifically it's because when Humanity was going to be United then immediately the next thing they do is they begin to oppose God and so God re realized that and he came down um because you realize now a United world uh people they want to be kind of like God and and here they were building a tower to go all the way up to heaven and let's say they want to challenge God and um so when Humanity unites it leads to evil um and so God stopped this evil and how did God stop this evil he saw that the evil was coming right and so God decides to stop it and so we see he punishes the world and and how does he punish the world it's kind of interesting uh in Genesis 11: 7-9 it says come let us go down and they're confus their language so that they will not understand one another's speech so the Lord scattered them abroad from them over the face of the whole earth and they stopped building the city therefore its name was called Babel because there the Lord confused the languages of the whole earth and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face face of the whole earth so so what we see happens here is that God he basically everybody begins to speak a different language and um and then afterwards what happens is um Nations begin to be created because before that there was just one nation and um and so we see Nations being created we see new countries being created we see countries creating borders um so essentially we would say the people or or Humanity they stopped being on one team they stopped playing for one team now there was whole bunch of teams and and everybody kind of began to play for their team uh and there was many of them um I believe the Jewish people uh in in their history it says there was about 70 um well imagine at that time 70 with uh you know with each their own flag and their own colors of the flag and their own anthems yeah because um you know it's their country it's their team right and so you're going to root for your team um and so the important things for us to kind of notice is that this happened the languages it's not because God was blessing the humanity he was actually stopping them and this came because because of God's judgment in a way you could say God's curse on humanity and so then we get after that we get languages and and countries and borders and things like that so that's really interesting for us to see here um and today uh thousands and thousands of years uh we see you know it still continues right we have a lot of countries in the world and and languages and borders and uh nationalities um and we see Humanity nowadays is split kind of like around really large groups uh right so we see mostly the the white people they're kind of like in Europe and maybe North America we see the Asians they they live kind of around Asia even though there's a overlap but but mostly that's that's how it is we see in uh African people they kind of live in Africa most of them we see South American people they kind of live around South America Indians they live around India uh Middle Easterns there's a whole big section in the world for Middle Easterns and today there's actually 195 Nations around 7,000 languages and uh thousands of nationalities so another thing what we notice is that over here when we read the story about the Babel this was God God was judging the unrighteous people it's people who were Rising against God they don't like God and they're Rising against them and God says you know what I'm going to judge them and here is the result of God's judgments so he confuses the languages um I would say in a way God kind of put uh if if this is an example a baby walker right around Humanity the the unrighteous and and so these languages is like a baby walker so they would walk around in these languages and divisions in order not to destroy themselves because God knows if they unite once again and start Rising against God then that's just going to bring destruction to humanity so in a way God created these baby walkers so they could come and bump against each other but at the same time they don't kill each other they they don't kill Humanity they don't destroy Humanity um now if we look at the same time U Noah and his sons were still alive and we don't see God mentioning anything about them and what the Bible does mention about Noah is that he was a righteous man and we don't see that in this uh what happens here is that God is punishing Noah and his sons that are still alive why why wasn't God punishing them because they weren't building the tower they weren't Rising against God right so even though most of the humanity and which uh Nimrod their leader is the great grandson of Noah not very far away right and he was already Rising against God but we see God punishes in a way the unrighteous and of course it goes throughout the whole Humanity but this type of a division was never meant for the righteous people because they're not Rising against God you don't need to they weren't building the tower um so so all if we really think about it the the languages the different nations the the the colors you know the country colors the the lands the borders they weren't put in by God for the righteous people they were essentially put there for the unrighteous and uh you know the interesting thing is uh just a side note here and we see that the story is really true and I was actually listening to David pson he's a a great preacher and a teacher um and he said do you know that the 11 chapters of uh Genesis uh they're actually written in the Chinese alphabet and um and the reason why is because back then he Humanity was United and only when they split everybody went into their countries Chinese went into the Chinese etc etc right and and up to the point of the flood it's actually recorded throughout the different uh countries in the world and if we actually go to the next slide so if we actually look at the slide in the middle this is the Chinese character but then it's it's explained to you it's called a tempter and so it's and maybe that symbol is a little bit hard to understand but you could read it says um man Garden Olive Devil Tree cover tempter and then they create that symbol it's still used today if you go to the one on the right it's the Forbidden tree so on top are the two trees on the bottom the the tree of good and uh the tree of knowledge and then the the the the tree of uh life and then God over there and then you actually look at the left then it's the boat it's the Noah's Ark there's the vessel there's the eight people that are in it and there's the people and so so we see that the stories of the scriptures and as we know the Chinese they don't have anything to do with the Bible they don't have as a nation you know they don't serve God but yet these stories are recorded is because there was a time when um people were United and and then um God he split the languages and everybody won their own and in different countries we find these kind of recordings and the story of the flood is actually written in many many different kinds uh in many countries so of course and so now there's these teams that that are split and every team thinks they're the best uh we you guys follow football right and so and there's many fans over here of different teams and even here in the church another person says this is the best team another that one and that person thinks that team's colors are the best well what kind of colors are you wearing these colors are the best and so and that's just a team that's the same thing in the in the state of the countries when everybody thinks their color is the best their flag their you know their their language and things like this and people are really proud of their nationalities any nationality that you go to uh even the tiniest ones you'll be surprised you'll probably think you know they're kind of they're probably kind of embarrassed of their nationality then you meet them they're like so proud they're wearing their flags and they have the history that they are the best um so God knew as long as this kind of team every everybody's under their team and the world is divided they will not rise against God and so today we see it continues that God he keeps the the unrighteous or people uh that that still divided with languages and nationalities and flags and and countries and borders and things like this um so and today we actually see that uh there are many wars today right because uh people think they have the right to something that they are the best and uh there's many divisions and these wars they also prevent the world from uniting um if you go to the next slide right those are these are the world leaders and everybody thinks his country is the best right and try to tell one of them that his country is not number one they're not going to believe you right so try to unite this world H how you going to do that that's you're going to have a really hard time right because they're actually fighting against each other other and and so God put it in like that everybody has their colors and their leaders and they think and it if we realize it's almost impossible uh for God put it this way that it's almost impossible for the world to unite um many leaders they try to remove this God's punishment and unite the world and if we study the history is like Alexander the Great he tried to unite and he tried to conquer the entire world and they almost and then they die then there's other ones Napoleon born apart we know even Hitler in a very big way he was quite successful but they always fail why are they failing because they need to read the scriptures that God put it in and none of them are going to succeed there's only going to be one that will succeed because God will allow him and that's the Antichrist and when that time will come and when you'll see the world really uniting you know the time is close because because nobody else no matter how powerful the countries are and uh unions none of them will succeed because God put this punishment uh to humanity but only the Antichrist will you di um so how about uh how about us is this punishment on the people who weren't involved in building the tower like if look at people even in our days that believe you know we're not we're not going to build a tower we're actually on God's side so what is happening to us are we supposed to be also divided under flags and countries and things like this or is there a different plan God had for the righteous like Noah and for people in our days and I would say that uh the Bible shows that God did not mean this punishment to be on his people um and we actually see that uh very quickly uh at the time uh of nimrod Nimrod and and Abraham is actually still alive and God is already promising to Abraham that through his seed you know every nation is going to be blessed and so God already puts this plan how he's going to unite a certain group of people and so and that group of people are believers only so God only allows he punishes the world but he only allows the Believers to be United there's only a plan for people that believe in God to be United um so um so from all the languages that the Believers are God says you can be United you can have basically One Nation one language you know uh you could be totally United um and and we read read this uh obviously in the scriptures and Jesus he comes to this world to save the world and to unite and we see he prays in John 17 chapter 20 and 21 and he says I do not ask on behalf of these alone so obviously his disciples are there and they're Jewish but for those also who believe in me through their word and we know that Peter he goes and preaches to the Gentiles and so he's that they may all be one even as you father are in me and I in you that they also may be in us so that the world may believe that you sent me and as I've read why did Jesus he prayed about Unity because when people are united this is a great power just like when God he came down and he saw humans and he said and now nothing which they purpose to do will be impossible for them and that's why God broke him apart but when the church is United when people from different nationalities in the church come together this is a power that cannot be stopped and that's why Jesus says that the gate and Peter on you I will uh build my church and the Gates of Hell will not overcome it it's impossible because it's the Believers United from different languages different colors different nationalities they become one nation they speak one language which is God's language um and they are United and nothing can stop them and this is an an Unstoppable Force for the Heavenly Kingdom and the Gates of Hell cannot overpower it um imagine uh it's it's like an oil painting and if any of you painted and you have different colors Reds and blues those are those are this is us before we've come to know Christ and then through Christ's blood he takes this color and he combines them like in oil paint you have to use some oil to combine the colors that's how through Christ's blood he combines and once you combine those colors that's it you can't tell the difference it just becomes one right and so that's how God through his blood he unites us and and we become as one in 1 Corinthians 12 verse 12 and 13 it says for even as the body is one and yet has many members which is us and all all the members of the body though they are many are one body so also is Christ for by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body whether Jew or Greek whether slave or free and we are all made to drink of one spirit so here is very clear doesn't matter your nationality doesn't matter your color in Christ Jesus we all become one and God that's that's what God wants us to become God wants every believer to become one people so to become one nation to become this one country to have this one flag so instead of the national flag you we're United under the cross this is our flag you know instead of uh the birth of my country you know I only have one country and that's the Heavenly Jerusalem that is the country that all believers become a part of instead of the national Army I am fighting under the leadership of the king of kings in his army and who am I fighting against I'm fighting against the devil a Christian is not a pacifist oh Christians don't no they fight Wars they fight the wars of God and they save people from the grasps of of the devil the devil has them captured and we put on our armor to go and through the word of God to free those people um to build the temple of God the kingdom alt together and so as as a United people the church is Unstoppable the devil cannot stop it and can never overcome it and Matthew 2818 to20 it says and Jesus came up and spoke to them saying all authority has been given to me in heaven and on Earth this before Jesus is rising so he gathers his disciples on the mountain and he says all authority has been given to me in heaven and on Earth go therefore and Make Disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the father and the Son and the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I command you and lo I Am With You Always even to the end of the age and so I would ask all of us to accept this blessing that God has for the righteous um no Christian none of you here needs to live under this punishment that was meant for the unrighteous of division you know but God offer offers us the Believers to be United as one people under his Banner you know um without any divisions that we see in the world and so may God help us and just uh to realize what blessing God has offered us and to take that blessing to become United and to fight in his army you know and with this I wanted to end the sermon and let's pray and we're going to seeing there is a fountain filled with blood but before we sing I'm going to read from Deuteronomy 8 verse 18 but remember the Lord your God for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth and so confirms his Covenant which he swore to your ancestors as it is today may the Lord bless everyone uh who puts on their heart to give to uh him today and let's [Music] see there is a fountain filled with BL drawn from your WS of redeeming has been my theme and shall be God and shall be till by God and shall be till I die redeeming love has been my and shall be I [Music] God praise God my dear friends so our church service uh came to the end and today you know the message that was spoken may we all take it into this week into this week so we can understand how we're spending our time and spending it with God and also that listen we are all United we are all United under Christ what kind of nation is United like heaven everybody's at War except God his nation is always United amen and um so we got a couple needs uh Ben Shara he said he's very sick so we're going to pray for him he so he couldn't come today and um we also have um Josh's wife she's she's also sick and so she couldn't make it today um does anybody anybody else have any needs no the Lord's been good amen let's pray Lord God we thank you for your message tonight Lord God may we God take what was spoken today by the Holy Spirit to use it in our life Lord God may we use this word to share to others God that there is no division in your people Lord God and if there is division then they are not your people Lord because you are united Lord may you bless us may you teach us and may you love us Lord God and may we love you the way you love us Lord God bless the rest of this week Lord and we pray for the sick for Josh's wife and for Ben Lord may you heal them in the name and the blood of Jesus Christ Lord God may you heal them in jesus' name we pray amen Our Father in heaven Hallowed be your name your k Kingdom Come your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us lead us not into temptation but Deliver Us from the evil one for your kingdom your power and Glory forever are yours amen amen
