The Living, Piercing Word of God
Doug’s sermon centers on Hebrews 4:12–13, exploring how God’s word is living, powerful, and piercing—able to reach the innermost depths of the human heart. Drawing on Psalm 139, the parable of the sower, and passages from Deuteronomy and 1 John, he challenges the congregation to receive Scripture with open hearts rather than hardened ones. Earlier in the service, youth speaker Dmitri shared a message on the peace that comes from trusting God, illustrated through the story of David and Goliath. The evening included two opening hymns, a special poem, and a closing song of thanksgiving.
