The Lord's Prayer as a Blueprint for Fathers
On Father's Day, Tim teaches that the Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13) is a blueprint for how fathers should lead their homes: setting godly rules and…
The Living, Piercing Word of God
Doug's sermon centers on Hebrews 4:12–13, exploring how God's word is living, powerful, and piercing—able to reach the innermost depths of the human heart. Drawing on Psalm 139, the parable of the sower, and passages from Deuteronomy and 1 John, he challenges the congregation to receive Scripture with open hearts rather than hardened ones. Earlier in the service, youth speaker Dmitri shared a message on the peace that comes from trusting God, illustrated through the story of David and Goliath. The evening included two opening hymns, a special poem, and a closing song of thanksgiving.

it becomes actually quite hard it becomes very heavy on us like something might not be going right or you think you know you know this path is the best for me to take or whatever and you you see very you see later on in life that whenever you try to do things yourself it never works out so like it says over here it says trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding and all your ways acknowledge Him He Shall direct your paths so we should put all of our trust to God and just um just not try to do anything yourself I just give it all to God and trust in him and he'll completely direct your paths and you'll see just how you you didn't expect things to happen to you and they still did and God directed your path and everything worked out for the best so uh with that being said let's stand up and pray Lord God we thank you for the day that You' given us today God and we ask you to bless the service Lord fill this place the Holy Spirit God guide us and lead us in your word today God help it uh help us to put that word in our hearts Lord and to learn from it and to walk by it Lord we ask you God bless the preaching today bless the singing Lord and we ask you uh my sermon is going to be about the Lord word's peace and first I would like to open up to uh Psalm 4 verse 8 Psalm chap or Psalm 4 uh verse 8 and it says here I will both lie down in peace and sleep for you alone O Lord Make Me dwell in safety and of course uh many of us I would say here are pretty young you know a lot of fosi the youth and you know just starting out in life and whether it is being in college um you know being in college school work etc and I uh say a lot of us can see the things of this world all around us especially if we go to school and how corrupt everything um and everywhere we look you can see all the corruption all around and I remember when I was in high school is pretty interesting I can recall uh many interest interesting incidents and I even got offered drugs on my first day of freshman year you know which is pretty crazy to think about uh what we already came to but seeing all these things um it should encourage us to get closer to God and we shouldn't fear all these things you know because if you are close to God and we're truly seeking Christ then we can easily it will be easy for us to deny all those Temptations uh and um and of course yeah like I said uh it should encourage us to get closer to God to purify our hearts from sin uh because I guarantee you that all of us we've seen the consequence of sin even though it might be tempting at first uh but the devil he is a deceiver he's a liar and all these things that might look uh very precious uh it could it's not you know like I said Devil's a liar and it could lead you to a very dark pit and um and also um through all these Temptations when you ask God to give us peace in our hearts and a shield from this evil World which uh the devil can throw at us and not only am I talking about temptation but about evildoers and the wicked of this world and I think that is one of the biggest uh tests that a Christian can face in this world because I wouldn't say like it was your decision um that made you lead into this uh pit you I would say but some Wicked person or evildoer is doing evil things to you and that's why I think it's one of the biggest tests you can face of this world so I ask um the Lord to give you all peace in your hearts and protection over this uh Wicked world and I would like to also open up to uh first Peter uh chapter 5 uh verse 7 1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7 and it says here uh casting all your care upon him for he cares for you and I was as I was previously uh talking about uh most of us here is Young and we're all trying to figure out everything we're doing in our life uh whether it's our careers and it could be hard sometimes s especially maybe uh if there is a big test coming up uh or maybe even like Financial struggles I would say or maybe some of us are going through some health issues here um but as it says here in this ver to cast all your burdens on him and I mean everything everything you're going through you cast everything on the Lord so that he may give you peace in your heart at all times and truly I say to to you that you can only find true peace uh through Jesus Christ and rely on him seek him and you will find that peace that we all need in this life and uh I would also like to read uh from first uh Samuel chapter 17 um verse 41-47 and it says here so the Philistine came and began Drawing Near to David and The Man Who Bore The Shield went before him and when the Philistine looked about and saw David he disdained him for he was only a youth Ruddy and goodlooking so the Philistine said to David am I a dog that you come to me with sticks and the Philistine cursed David by his gods and the Philistines said to David come to me and I'll give you your flesh to the birds of the air and the east of the field then David said to the Philistine you come to me with a sword with a spear and with a javelin but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts the god of the armies of Israel whom you have defied this day the Lord will deliver you into my hand and I'll strike you and take your head from you and this day I'll give you the carcass of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth that all the Earth may know that there is a God in Israel then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with a sword and spear for the battle is the Lords and he will give uh you into our hands and I'm pretty sure all of you heard of the story many many times before but imagine being in that position as David um everybody was petrified against Goliath and honestly I would be also pretty petrified against Goliath and the amount of peace and trust you have to have on the Lord it has to be incredible you know because you're about to face death and the fact that David did so as a young boy is also amazing and we should take that as an example now what if we take this story and also use it in our spiritual life uh in our spiritual battles you know David was at peace before his battle and we also need to be at peace before our battles including physically and spiritually and we can only do so uh through Jesus Christ knowing to trust in him that he will give us strength and he is the only one who can give us peace in our struggles as long as we call upon the Lord and his blood we can defeat Satan's plans like I said before we cannot do this alone we can by our flesh we are are not powerful whatsoever we will lose but like in Judah 1:9 where where Gabriel rebukes Sayan in the name of the Lord even Archangel Gabriel himself has to use the lord's name against Satan and he couldn't even use his own name you know because he understands how powerful Satan can be um if you are without God and um I would also like to open up to Hebrews uh chapter 4 or chapter 12 verse 14 and it says here pursue peace with all people in Holiness without which no one will see the Lord which no one will see the Lord and Not only would I like to talk about the peace you know before our struggles and battles in our spiritual life but I'd also like to talk about the peace all around us with people who we are with every single day and to because it's super super important and to love each other and to be at peace with everybody here and how it how important it is to have Unity inside the church and unity inside the youth to to try to always have peace with everyone around you that's including saying you know bad things about other others because that can cause a lot of problems and that could be the beginning of a fire torch you could say or spark so I encourage everyone here to um have peace among everyone and if you have have some kind of Grudge um you know try to say sorry to that person even if they don't say it back to you and maybe if I did hurt any of you here i' would also like to ask for forgiveness uh because even we heard in this uh previous sermon um that's uh from the first service where only God can work in a a area and surrounding where everybody loves each other so if people you know start to have some kind of beef some kind of grudge against somebody it's very hard for the Lord to dwell in that place so we we all have to have peace here with every single one of us and I would also like to read just one more verse and which is in Matthew uh 5:9 and it says here blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God uh amen let's pray e amen standing on our feet we're going to be singing Blessed [Music] Assurance blessed assur Jesus is one oh but a four days of Glory Divine here of praising My Savior all the day [Music] long praise God my dear friends right now we're just going to have some announcements and um so thank God for the guest we had today I heard our Our Youth and the guests they they had a good time I had the leader staying at my house and he's like man I mean how your guys' youth welcomed us I know churches with hundreds of people they didn't even show up the way your like your youth did so you know praise God that that we can teach each other you know to care for each other you know sometimes uh people lose that but may we always learn how to take care of our people um well today announcements are very short I mean I'm pretty sure you guys saw on the Viber chat that anybody that wants to come uh we're going to be going to the park today Settlers Park um and this summer you know we um we have some outreaches kind of you know thinking of what to do so if you if parents or whatever have any ideas that you guys can help us with then let us know and we can already plan but I think for outreaches as a church the church is supposed to be doing God's work and we cannot give up on these outreaches and um uh like this uh brother was saying I mean he's from a really big church but but he was just kind of saying when they started doing all these these outreaches all these Ministries like prison Ministries outreaches in the park and stuff like that then it kind of binded their youth their Church you know because nobody's doing nothing everybody kind of does their own thing so let's let's uh Keep Together keep going and like I said if you guys have any ideas let us know but other than that uh right now Emma's going to share a poem and we're going to listen be listening to brother Doug praise God through the unexpected things that happens in our lives we draw from God the strength we need to carry on with Christ for he will always hold us up whenever it gets too tough and carry us through the hardest times when we can't feel his love I know that these times we feel abandoned by our Lord we wonder what is going on we can't feel his presence at all but he has not abandoned us nor forsaken us in our need he allows the unexpected things but be life lessons we should heed so we will grow with deeper faith and be strengthened in the Lord when then when we Face the storms of life we'll be stronger than before so when the unexpected comes remember God's in control and nothing in life is ever wasted but our memories that we hold so when others come across our path that are facing what we faced we're more than able to share God's love and touch them with his grace amen good evening let's turn in our Bibles to book of Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 12 12 and 13 actually as you're turning there bear in mind that this is God's holy word it's authored by the Holy Spirit which is one and the same as saying it's authored by God the Father himself one and the same as saying these are the words of Jesus there's no difference between the word of God and there's no dis dis agreement with anything in God and his word so this is a um memory verse for the Petra school Bible B and uh they're required to learn it in the new King James version uh for verse 12 so I'm going to read verse 12 in the new King James because I don't want to Rattle anybody who's memorizing precise words um and then uh verse 13 in my Bible which is a different translation but it's the same message let's read this together for the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword piercing even to the division of Soul and Spirit and of joints and Marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intense of the heart and there is no creature hidden from his sight but all things are uncovered and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom we have an account to give let's pray Father in Heaven thank you for this time thank you for this gorgeous day it doesn't get any better than this thank you for these words thank you for what it says and uh I am overwhelmed will you uh Lord will you help me and will you help us let these words penetrate to the depths of our being and changes we ask this in the name of Jesus Amen so the title of this sermon is the Living Word the piercing word the judging word and the eyes in the sky so there are some verbs here and this is a magnificent complicated sentence I shouldn't say it's complicated it's technically what you call a complex sentence and it has this thing where it uses a verb form like living as an adjective and there's a name for that it's called a participle sorry to use some big words uh if you didn't study that real hard when you were in English in school mean neither I'm uh learning it now but what that is is a verb form that works to modify a noun like the uh running car right the walking men waved to me walking is a verb form but it works as an adjective that's what these are living piercing judging and we have other modifiers so together with a few other verses we have we've heard in the Bible the word of God described as a lamp it is a light it is rain it is snow it's a fire it's a hammer it's a sword and it's living and it's a judge of our hearts there have been just a few times in my life that there was a verse that went through me like a sword and this is the most recent one last week I also talked about God's word the last time I preached I also talked about God's word hopefully next time I will talk about God's word so I have a mug here I stuck this here this is a mug that my daughter gave me it says she thought this was funny so she ordered it it says be careful or you will end up in my sermon now she thought that was real funny but as a matter of fact you are in this sermon each one of you but it's not me that's reading your mail it's our father in Heaven it's the Holy Spirit reading our mail since 6,000 years ago reading our Mayo all right also some other adjectives the word of God is powerful right and how can it be powerful if it's not living what does it mean that it's living how can words on a page be living how well that's the difference in ordinary human books they are dead our words out of our mouths are dead they have no power you know I was outside today I said some words it had no power but God's words are how powerful how sharp is that sword how heavy is the hammer how hot is the fire I want to go to some other verses let's see what do I have here I have my Bible is loaded up with um bookmarks I obviously can't go to all of them but that's that's one of my faults is that I tend to stack on 30 or 40 verses and drive people crazy going through so many verses we're just going to give you a few of them and this this verse in a way it needs more time than a little bit because there's so much here let us go to the book of J Deuteronomy chapter 29 and while you're turning there I'm just going to talk to you for a minute I'm learning how to not just go there so fast so fast so fast that you can hardly get there before I start reading one of the issues we have to deal with is that God's revelation is partial he keeps some secrets to himself and so there's let's just say there's the whole truth everything that can be that that is true about God God gives us a piece of it we don't know how vast we don't know the extent of what there is to know about God he does say in his word that all will be revealed in heaven so when we've been there 10 trillion years we're still learning still learning still learning so he gives us a piece of it and the good news is that what he does give us we might know truly we can know it truly even if ultimately he's unfathomable now there are some other problems he gives us a piece of it in the book and then we don't read the whole book we read little bits of it little here a little there okay that's a problem another problem is that we have this Corruption of sin in our hearts and that manifests itself it reveals itself and we all have this learning disability where we're stubborn in our heart um Proverbs 1 ver7 says the fool despises wisdom and instruction isn't that us that's me so we reject what we have heard um Matthew 13 says they have hardened their hearts with their ears they scarcely hear with and they have closed their eyes so we have willful blindness right so to recap his Revelation is partial we don't read all of it let's say we don't want to read all of it we have hard hearts and stiff necks and some people are hard of hearing some of us are hard of listening and we've closed our eyes so we don't get all of it and that's a big issue with a passage like Hebrews 4:12 because it's saying that the word of God is living okay we were at Deuteronomy 2929 Deuteronomy 29:29 this is just saying some of what I just said the secret things belong to God but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever that we may do all the words of this law so as a result First Corinthians Ians 13:9 says so we know in part we prophesy in part and uh what we see is like in a mirror dimly but here in Hebrews 12 it's saying the word of God is living and Powerful so I think you know last week we sang that song when we all get to heaven I just have this kind kind of um idea that this what seems to be sitting still and [Music] static when we see the word of God in heaven we're going to see that it's alive we're going to see that it's moving not in a physical sense is it moving but in a spiritual sense it's moving it's living and it's powerful how powerful is it well it has all the characteristics of God for example God is powerful how powerful is God powerful enough to create everything by the word of God the heavens and the Earth were created the word of God stands forever uh Isaiah 40 verse 8 the grass withers the flower Fades but the word word of the Lord stands forever now that made me think of something when Moses first wrote the first words actually was written by the Finger of God on stone tablets so it's not even about how durable is the paper and the ink it's stone tablets and it's written by the Finger of God but remember remember Moses came down from Mount Si and the Israelites had made a a golden calf and they were worshiping an idol and do you remember what happened Moses got angry and he threw the tablets to the ground and they shattered so he shattered the stone tablets did he shatter God's word no not God's word just the carving on the stone tablets God's requirements for us the Ten Commandments What God requires of us never changes it never did change that's the same Worship the Lord your God and him only have no other gods before you Moses was angry because they broke the Commandment about idols and then of course God went up to SI and made another copy of that and so his word is forever God is forever he's Eternal and he's unchanging and so God's word is unchanging let's go to Psalm 102 Psalm 102 and we're going to look at verses 25 through 27 this is talking about how God and His word are like one and the same thing you can't diss his word without dissing God matter of fact somebody said once that your attitude towards God's word will be your attitude toward God your attitude toward towards these words will be your attitude towards Jesus okay Psalm 102 verse 25 of old you founded the earth and the heavens are the work of your hands even they will perish but you will remain and all of them will wear out like a garment like clothing you will change them and they will be changed but you are the same and your years will not come to an end all right so now there's another thing that theologians actually are a little bit divided on precisely what is meant here for the word of God is living and Powerful the word of God we've heard that before haven't we John 1 vers 1 through three in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God he was with God in the beginning all things were made through him right and I understand there is a famous Theologian named Junius famous among theologians an and uh he was a guy who went to church he was raised as a Christian his dad was a Christian his parents and his dad had opened the book to John chapter 1 and laid it in a strategic place where his son would find it and one day he looked and he saw that in the beginning one was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God and just like this verse has done to me those words went through him like lightning and he couldn't think about anything the rest of his day and he was actually changed by those words there's another place oh in uh first John 2 verse 15 here's another verse this is I'm I'm digressing I'm going slightly off the path but it's not on the path of God's word piercing there's this uh John 1 John not John but 1 John 2 verses uh 15- 17 when I saw this it was a long time ago I was very troubled when I saw this it sayso not love the world nor the things in the world if anyone loves the world the love of the father is not in him now that really slayed me because I knew that I did love the world I knew that I did love things in the world I was a musician I loved music more than anything it was my idol he's going on for all that is in the world the lust of the Flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life is not from the father but is from the world and the world is passing away and also its lusts but the one who does the will of God abides forever all right so the Living Word the piercing word by the way the big idea of this message today is pretty much what this says but let's just say the word of God is living it's powerful it's piercing it's it's a lamp it's a light it's rain it's snow it's a fire it's a hammer it's a sword and it's a pair of eyes in the sky so it's interesting this this phrase says piercing even to the division of Soul and Spirit some people have been confused on Soul and Spirit and uh I don't think we have to talk about a long time but spirit is the substance of what we are like this this I was going to say Podium Lecter Pulpit it's made out of [Music] wood but it is not a wood wood is what it's made of spirit is what our Eternal being is John chapter 4 says God is Spirit we must worship Him in spirit and in truth and uh notice that God in the Bible is never referred to as a soul the Heavenly beings like Angels demons they're never rever referred to as Souls a soul is a uniquely human non-physical being that's what we are and a soul is a human being of Eternal consequence after the body's gone the soul lives on and when it's used by itself the word Soul and Spirit are used synonymously they're interchangeable but usually when they're used together the word Soul refers more to our feelings our emotions the word Spirit refers more to in general to our intellectual being but the word of God pierces to the division to the definitions of words also it pierces to to both joints and Marrow you know what marrow is the bone is the outside of your bone the marrow is the inside what this is saying in that metaphor is that the word of God once again it's reading our mail it knows us it goes to the innermost depths of our being let's turn to Psalm 139 and Psalm 139 is also a Psalm that did something huge to me Psalm 139 I could read the whole thing and that might be the best part of my sermon not when I'm talking but when I'm reading the word of God I've noticed that lot of sermons that I hear when they read portions of scripture that that's the best part of the sermon sometimes I think we should just read scripture to one another but this says it all this is talking about how God is everywhere and he's all knowing it says oh God you have searched me and known me you know when I sit down and when I Rise Up you understand my thought from afar you scrutinize my path and my lying down and are intimately acquainted with all my ways even before there is a word on my tongue behold oh God you know it all you have enclosed me behind and before and you have put your hand upon me such knowledge is too wonderful for me it is too high I cannot attain to it where can I go from your spirit or where can I flee from your presence if I Ascend to Heaven you are there if I make my bed in Shale behold you are there if I lift up the wings of the Dawn if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea even there your hand hand will lead me and your right hand will lay hold of me if I say surely the darkness will bruise me and the light around around me be night even the darkness is not too dark for you and the night is as bright as the day Darkness and Light are alike to you here we go now to the bones and Marrow verse 13 for you formed my inward Parts you formed my inward Parts you wo me in my mother's womb see he's talking about little James bibikov right here thousands of years ago he speaks he declares the end from the beginning he speaks of things that haven't happened yet because he's all knowing for you formed my inward Parts you wo me in my mother's womb I will give thanks to you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made wonderful are your works and my soul knows it very well my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in secret and intricately woven in the depths of the earth your eyes have seen my unformed substance and in your book all of them were written the days that were formed for me when as yet there was not one of them how precious are your thoughts of me oh God how vast is the sum of them if I should count them they would outnumber the sand okay I could go on and on because this is so magnificent and that pretty much tells what Hebrews 4:13 says and there is no creature hidden from his sight but all things are uncovered and laid bare to the eyes of him to whom we have an account to give so this is why this is just a clue as to why this scripture pierces pierces us and it's also powerful to change us um I mentioned Matthew 13 let's go there let's just let this be the last verse that I go to Matthew Chapter 13 you all know this as the parable of the swer and it appears in Mark and in Luke also you know where the sewer goes out to sew but see the seeds are the words of God it's the word of God and notice that it lands on four different kinds of soil it lands beside the road where the birds pick it up it lands in Rocky places that don't have much soil so it Springs up really quickly but then it Withers away when the Sun hits it and then it's swn among thorns and thistles and that's the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth that chokes it and then there's the good soil where it bears fruit some 30-fold some 60 some hundredfold well why does he speak in Parables it's what he's saying his Revelation maybe there's one part I didn't say so he reveals part of it we have the corruption of sin in us and we're stubborn stiff necked all of that we won't read the Bible we can't read the Bible we're semi-illiterate what else what other reason oh yes he's chosen to reveal to some of us and not others look at Matthew 13 verse 10 the purpose of the Parables the purpose this is God's words and the disciples came and said to him why do you speak to them in Parables and Jesus answered and said to them to you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven but to them it has not been given for whoever has to him more shall be given and he will have an abundance but whoever does not have even what he has shall be taken away from him therefore I speak to them in Parables because while seeing they do not see and while hearing they do not hear nor do they understand and in them the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled which says he's going to tell a prophecy from a thousand years before this which is being fulfilled in their hearing Isaiah it says this is still in verse 14 you will keep on hearing but will not understand you will keep on seeing but will not perceive for the heart of this people has become dull and with their ears they scarcely hear and they have closed their eyes lest they would see with their eyes hear with their ears and understand stand with their heart and return and I would heal them but blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear for truly I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see and did not see it and to hear what you hear and did not hear it are our hearts so hard that the ham of the word cannot shatter us and convict us are our hearts so cold that the fire of the word of God doesn't warm us are we so blind that the lamp of the word of God doesn't help us let us open our eyes let us change our our Direction let us receive these words brothers and sisters ladies and gentlemen these are not my words my words have no power my words come out of my mouth and land on this plant right here God's words have the power to pierce our hearts let us resolve in our hearts to seek God's words and hunger for them let's pray Father in heaven let these words sink into our heart Proverbs 3:9 honor the Lord with your wealth with the first fruits of all your crops um the brothers will be coming out to collect the tithing so all who the Holy Spirit has led to give today Lord may they be blessed and we're going to be singing our last song today thank you [Music] Lord I've come before you [Music] today and there's just one thing that I want to say thank you Lord thank you Lord for all You' given to me for all the blessings that I cannot see thank
